Lights, local flavors, and craftsmanship on Corso Italia in Pastorano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
For a few days between late November and early December, Corso Italia in Pastorano takes on a new look. The main street of the village fills with wooden chalets, twinkling lights, and stalls brimming with decorations: these are the Christmas Markets, the event with which the Municipality officially kicks off the holiday season. It is not a large city event, but a carefully curated local tradition that attracts families and curious visitors from across the Caserta plains every year.
The invitation extended by the municipal administration each year remains the same: experience the magic of Christmas amidst lights, flavors, and crafts, strolling along the main street at your own pace. It is a simple and effective way to bring life back to the town center during the month when communities gather.
The Pastorano Christmas Markets are born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Pastorano and local associations. Recent editions have seen the Pro Loco Pastorano, the Pastorano si puรฒ dare di piรน association, and Pastorano Group Event's working side-by-side to manage the setup, exhibitor hospitality, and street entertainment. Vendor participation is regulated by a public notice and a handbook published annually on the Municipality's official websiteโa detail that highlights how serious this event has become for a town of just a few thousand inhabitants.
The number of exhibitors varies from year to year: in the 2019 edition, then presented under the title Natale in Corso, there were over forty, arriving from various parts of the region.
Admission to the markets is free of charge on all days. In the 2024 edition, the stands remained open continuously from 9:30 AM to 11:00 PM, a format that allows visitors to enjoy the market both during the day with children and in the evening, when the lights are at their best and the street becomes the village's living room.
Pastorano is a small municipality of just under three thousand inhabitants in the province of Caserta, Campania, located 67 meters above sea level at the foot of the Trebulani Mountains. The predominantly flat territory includes the hamlets of Pantuliano, San Secondino, and Torre Lupara, and borders Pignataro Maggiore, Vitulazio, Camigliano, and Giano Vetusto. It is an agricultural area crossed by the ancient Appian and Casilina roads, where village festivals still play an important social role and where Christmas remains the moment when the entire community reconnects.
The calendar shifts slightly from year to year. In 2024, the markets took place from November 29 to December 1; in 2025, the event moved to the Immaculate Conception long weekend, on December 6, 7, and 8. No official program has been released for the December 2026 edition yet: dates are usually announced in the autumn on the channels of the Municipality of Pastorano and the organizing associations, along with the notice for exhibitors.
For December 2026, the Municipality of Pastorano has not yet published the calendar for the Christmas Markets. This is not a negative sign: the dates for this event are usually announced in the autumn, along with the public notice for exhibitors wishing to book a chalet along Corso Italia.
Recent editions have taken place between late November and the first week of December: from November 29 to December 1 in 2024, and from December 6 to 8 in 2025, coinciding with the Immaculate Conception long weekend. It is therefore reasonable to expect a similar schedule this year, but until the official announcement arrives, no date can be considered certain.
What can be taken for granted is the established structure of the festival: the main street closed to traffic, lights turned on, stalls featuring crafts and typical products from the province of Caserta, food stands, and activities for children, all with free entry and organized by the Municipality in collaboration with Pro Loco Pastorano and other local associations.
Those who wish to stay updated can follow the official website of the Municipality of Pastorano and the social media channels of the organizing associations, where the poster, hours, and full program are published every year.

The evening is the best time for the lights, but also the most crowded: those with small children should choose the afternoon. Dress in layers; the street is outdoors, and in December, the Caserta plains can be damp and cold after sunset.
