On Palm Sunday, the village of Ripa Teatina, located in the province of Chieti in the heart of the Teatine Abruzzo region, renews a tradition deeply cherished by the community: the Passion of Christ Re-enactment. As dusk falls, the historic center turns into a grand open-air stage, where costumed performers bring the scenes of the Passion to life amidst the village's most evocative alleys and squares.
A journey through faith and tradition
The event unfolds as a traveling re-enactment composed of living tableaux: residents of Ripa Teatina of all ages don period costumes to portray characters from the Gospel narrative, from the entry into Jerusalem to the final moments of the Passion. It is a moment to reflect on the meaning of Easter, immersed in the intimate and suggestive atmosphere of the village, where spiritual depth intertwines with the collective participation of the citizenry.

The re-enactment is promoted by the Quella notte al convento cultural association, the same group that enlivens Ripa Teatina's cultural life with its historical re-enactments, under the patronage of the Municipality of Ripa Teatina. The organization is supported by the Contrada Feudo association, the Banda Città di Ripa Teatina C. Monteverdi, and the Vivere l'Abruzzo: Turismo, Cultura, Territorio association. The result is a widespread and participatory event that highlights the heritage of the historic center and the traditions of the Abruzzese Holy Week.
