Street food, local delicacies, and street art in the heart of Bompensiere
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Passiammu e Mangiammu is one of the most beloved summer events in Bompensiere, a small town in the Province of Caltanissetta, nestled in the heart of central Sicily. The name, derived from the Sicilian dialect and meaning "let's walk and eat," perfectly captures the event's spirit: a gastronomic stroll through the village streets, moving from stand to stand to discover the street food and local products of the Nisseno region.
The evening combines popular gastronomy with live entertainment. Along the route, the audience encounters jugglers, dancers, and performers who transform the historic center into an open-air stage. Past editions have featured the Joculares street artist troupe and the Tania Dance school, which actively engaged the crowd. The event also includes musical performances and urban regeneration initiatives, such as the creation of murals that have enriched the village's corners.
The first edition of Passiammu e Mangiammu took place in August 2022 as part of the Bompensiere Summer program. From the very beginning, the festival was a great success, with local food and street art taking center stage. Over the years, the event has become a staple of the local summer calendar, drawing residents, returning emigrants, and visitors from neighboring towns.
Promoted by the Municipality of Bompensiere, the festival is part of a summer program packed with initiatives, including food festivals, concerts, open-air theater, and community celebrations. Passiammu e Mangiammu represents a moment dedicated to taste and social connection, an opportunity to rediscover traditional Sicilian flavors and experience this village in the province of Caltanissetta on one of its most lively nights.
The 2026 edition of Passiammu e Mangiammu in Bompensiere has not yet been officially confirmed. Based on previous years, the festival is expected to return in August, featuring the traditional gastronomic stroll with street food, local Sicilian products, and roving performances. To find out the final dates and program, we recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Bompensiere.
Bompensiere is located in the hinterland of the Province of Caltanissetta. By car, it can be reached via the SS640 Caltanissetta-Agrigento road, taking the exit toward the Platani Valley towns. The nearest train station is in Caltanissetta, about 30 km away, from where you can continue by car.
The event takes place in the historic center, and access to the festival areas is generally free; street food and local product tastings are paid for directly at the stands. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking through the village streets.
