The Volunteer Fire Brigade festival in the church square of Parcines
The Fest der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Partschins, also known as the Partschinser Kirchtig, is the summer festival organized by the Volunteer Fire Brigade (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Partschins EO) in the municipality of Parcines/Partschins, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. It takes place in the church square (Kirchplatz), in the center of the village overlooking the Merano basin, and is one of the most cherished local summer events.
In keeping with the South Tyrolean Kirchtig tradition (the village festival linked to the parish), the event brings together residents, associations, and guests in an atmosphere of genuine cheer. Proceeds support the activities of the Volunteer Fire Brigade, a cornerstone of community life in Parcines: a group of volunteers that ensures safety and emergency services for the entire municipal area, from the valley floor to the hamlets of Rablà/Rabland and Tel/Töll.
The evening begins at 6:00 PM and continues late into the night. The program typically includes:
The Musikkapelle Partschins, the village brass band active for over two centuries, contributes to the rich cultural life of the village and, along with local associations, enlivens the main events of the year.
Parcines is famous for the Partschins Waterfall (Partschinser Wasserfall), one of the most impressive in the Alps, and for being the birthplace of Peter Mitterhofer, inventor of the typewriter. It is an ideal setting for a village festival that combines nature, tradition, and South Tyrolean hospitality.
The 2026 Fest der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Partschins was held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 6:00 PM in the Kirchplatz of Parcines/Partschins. As per tradition, the Volunteer Fire Brigade offered live music, grilled food and traditional dishes, and refreshing drinks, in an open-air village festival open to families and visitors.
The detailed program of the evening (guest musical acts) is communicated each year by the Fire Brigade through their own channels. The event confirms the festival's role as a meeting point for the community of Parcines, in the Burgraviato, in the Province of Bolzano.
6:00 PM: Opening of the festival in the Kirchplatz. Followed by: live music, grilled specialties, beer, and refreshing drinks until late at night.
Parcines/Partschins can be reached by car via the SS38 Val Venosta road, just a few kilometers from Merano/Meran. By train, take the Merano-Malles line to the Rablà-Parcines stop, then take a bus or a short ride to the center. The church square (Kirchplatz) is in the heart of the village.
The festival starts at 6:00 PM. Admission is free; food and drinks are paid for separately. This is an outdoor event: it is recommended to check the Fire Brigade's social media pages for any changes in case of bad weather.
