A historical walking tour through the streets of Oulx dedicated to the Resistance
Partisan Stories in Oulx is a cultural event that transforms the historic centre of Oulx, a town in the Upper Susa Valley in the Province of Turin (Piedmont), into an open-air stage dedicated to the memory of the Resistance. This is not a simple guided tour, but a theatrical walk where history and storytelling intertwine: along the route, actors and guides recount episodes and characters linked to the partisan struggle that swept through these mountains between 1943 and 1945.
The meeting point is at the Oulx Tourist Office, at Piazza Garambois 2, where the journey through the village alleys begins. Highlights include the birthplace of Cesare Alvazzi Del Frate, a very young partisan who later became commander of the 41st Val Chisone Division, and Casa Bermond in the Upper Village, where an actor voices the partisan doctor Marco Bermond, recalling the conditions of the fighters after the bloody battle of Monte Triplex โ Col Basset on 17 July 1944. The tour concludes at the Casa delle Culture, formerly the Casa Littoria, where performers give voice to Don Marabotto, a partisan priest, by reading pages from his diary.
The initiative stems from a collaboration between the ArTeMuDa Association, the ANPI Chiomonte Alta Valle di Susa section, and the Historical Institute of the Resistance of the Province of Turin. The format combines historical rigour with theatrical language, alternating between major historical events and the small, daily stories of those who lived through the Resistance in the valley. It is an intense and participatory way to rediscover the identity of an alpine border territory, where the Liberation struggle took on unique characteristics linked to the geography and the mountain passes towards France.
The event is free and subject to availability: therefore, booking is mandatory. The walk is suitable for a wide audience, including families and contemporary history enthusiasts. Comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking on the cobblestones of the historic mountain centre are recommended.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, the historical walk dedicated to the Resistance returns to Oulx (TO), with two guided tours at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The meeting point is at the Tourist Office, Piazza Garambois 2.
Along the route, guides and actors illustrate episodes and characters of the partisan struggle in the valley, from the birthplace of Cesare Alvazzi Del Frate to Casa Bermond, and finally to the Casa delle Culture. The walk features performances by Luigino Allois, Anna Alvazzi Del Frate, Roberto Micali, Barbara Patria, and Renato Sibille.
Admission is free subject to availability. Booking is mandatory by Friday, June 19, by calling +39 335 7669611.
Oulx is easily accessible by train thanks to the Oulx-Cesana-Claviere-Sestriere station on the Turin-Modane line, which is also served by high-speed trains to France. By car, take the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia motorway, exit at Oulx. The meeting point is at the Tourist Office in Piazza Garambois 2, in the town centre.
