Parole in Piazza is one of the most beloved literary reviews of the summer in Sarzana (Province of La Spezia). Conceived and directed by lawyer and writer Annamaria Bernardini De Pace, it transforms Piazza De André into a large open-air lounge every year, where authors, journalists, celebrities, and personalities from current affairs share their stories with the audience.
Meetings, dialogues, and current affairs
The format alternates book presentations, dialogues, and discussions on the major themes of the present. In recent editions, the square has welcomed nationally renowned guests, from Ornella Vanoni to criminologist Roberta Bruzzone, to the writer Donato Carrisi, in evenings that intertwine culture, emotion, and news.
A growing event
The review is preceded by a series of previews, "Aspettando Parole in Piazza" (Waiting for Parole in Piazza), which brings some introductory meetings to the city in the spring months. A project that has won over a wide audience, making Sarzana one of the cultural reference points of the Ligurian summer.
Parole in Piazza — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Parole in Piazza enlivens Piazza De André in Sarzana from July 2 to 12. Under the direction of Annamaria Bernardini De Pace, ten days of evening meetings will bring writers, journalists, and personalities from show business and current affairs to the city. Among the guests are leading voices like Donato Carrisi; in recent editions, the square also hosted Ornella Vanoni and Roberta Bruzzone. The complete programme will be released in the weeks preceding the event.

How to get there
By train: Sarzana station on the Genoa–La Spezia–Pisa line. By car: A12 or A15 motorway, Sarzana exit. The meetings are held in Piazza De André, in the historic centre.
Admission
Evening meetings are generally free admission until seats are full. Programme distributed by the organisers.
