Pancalieri Alpini Carnival

The Pancalieri Alpini Carnival is one of the most cherished winter traditions in this small town on the Po plain, located in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont. Organized by the Pancalieri Alpini Group—a historic local association—in partnership with the municipal administration, this is a simple, authentic carnival designed primarily for families and children. The heart of the festivities: Town Hall Square

The event centers on the Piazza del Municipio (Town Hall Square), which transforms for an afternoon into a kingdom of confetti, streamers, and colorful costumes. Amidst the music and merriment, children in costume take center stage, while the Alpini welcome guests of all ages with the legendary hospitality for which the 'black feathers' are known.

The Amici del Pellice float

The main attraction is the grand Amici del Pellice float. Based in Cavour, this carnival group has spent years winning acclaim at parades across the provinces of Cuneo and Turin. The float is parked in the square, ready to captivate the public with its spectacular design—a massive papier-mâché creation, the result of months of hard work, bringing a taste of the region's major carnivals to Pancalieri.

Pancalieri and the Piedmontese Carnival tradition

Pancalieri, famous throughout the region for its mint cultivation, takes great pride in preserving its folk traditions.
