About Overline Jam

For nearly twenty years, Overline Jam has transformed Baronissi, in the heart of the Irno Valley, into one of Italy's capitals of graffiti culture. Five days of live writing, hip hop, photography, skating, and workshops, featuring over a hundred international artists painting a massive collective mural along the walls of Parco della Rinascita, beneath the Franciscan Convent. A completely free, popular, and inclusive festival that brings together urban art, music, and community.

Overline Jam, graffiti culture at home in Baronissi

Every summer, Baronissi, a town in the Irno Valley in the province of Salerno, Campania, transforms for a few days into a vast open-air laboratory dedicated to writing and hip hop culture. Overline Jam is now recognized as one of the most important Italian events dedicated to graffiti culture: a gathering that draws artists from across Europe and overseas, having built an identity that extends far beyond provincial borders over its nearly twenty years of activity.

The event is organized by the Overline Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Baronissi. Over the years, it has brought together hip hop, urban art, digital visions, music, photography, urban sports, training, and youth engagement, promoting emerging talent and an inclusive community built on rhythm, experimentation, and shared innovation. As Mayor Anna Petta has noted, Overline Jam is now an integral part of the city's collective identity.

The collective mural, the heart of the festival

The centerpiece of every edition is the creation of a large collective mural along the walls of Parco della Rinascita, in the area below the Franciscan Convent. Each year, organizers choose a theme that serves as a common thread for the works, interpreted freely by the participants: in 2025 it was artificial intelligence, while in 2026 it was cinema, with the park's walls transformed into an immense open-air screen populated by the films and characters that have made movie history.

Writers work live in front of the public throughout the weekend: you can follow the artwork as it grows, spray can by spray can, talk to the artists, and observe techniques, lettering, and fills up close. It is one of the most appreciated aspects of the event, as it restores to writing its most authentic dimension: that of the unrepeatable gesture performed in real time.

Beyond the walls: music, skating, photography

Overline Jam is not just mural painting. The program complements writing with a series of activities that make the festival a true urban culture gathering:

  • Evening concerts and DJ sets featuring historic names and rising stars of Italian hip hop;
  • Open mic sessions for emerging artists;
  • Skate classes and skateboarding courses to introduce young people to urban sports;
  • Drawing and street art workshops for children;
  • The Anna Gallo Photography Contest, dedicated to capturing the essence of the jam;
  • Vintage and vinyl markets and a street food and drink area;
  • Exhibitions at the FRaC Museum in Baronissi, which precede the festival opening each year.

A free festival for everyone

One of the hallmarks of Overline Jam is that it is completely free: all events, including concerts, have free admission. This choice is consistent with the event's popular vocation, designed as a meeting space for different generations and an opportunity for urban regeneration in the involved neighborhoods. The murals created remain in the area, and over the years, they have built a public art trail that can be visited at any time of the year.

Baronissi and the Irno Valley

Baronissi is located a few kilometers from Salerno, along the valley that leads up toward Avellino, and is now a university town: the Fisciano campus of the University of Salerno is a short distance away, helping to make the area particularly young and vibrant. The city also hosts the FRaC Museum (Regional Fund for Contemporary Art), which has hosted the opening exhibitions of recent editions, and the Franciscan Convent complex, one of the event's iconic locations.

For those visiting Campania in the summer, Overline Jam is an excellent reason to step off the beaten path of the Amalfi Coast and discover a lively hinterland where contemporary creativity engages with local historical heritage.

Overline Jam — edition 2026

The eighteenth edition of Overline Jam took place in Baronissi from July 22 to 26, 2026, featuring over one hundred writers from Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, England, Belgium, Switzerland, Cyprus, Turkey, and Colombia. Theme of the year: cinema. The walls of Parco della Rinascita, beneath the Franciscan Convent, were transformed into a massive open-air screen, accompanied by three evenings of free hip hop concerts.

Overline Jam 2026: five days on the theme of cinema

For the eighteenth edition, from July 22 to 26, 2026, Baronissi returned as the international capital of graffiti culture. The chosen theme was cinema: the wall became a journey through the films and characters that have made movie history, painted by over a hundred Italian and foreign writers.

The edition opened on Wednesday, July 22, with the vernissage at the FRaC Museum of the exhibition Street Dogma. Works and Thoughts by Alessandro Ferri (DADO), featuring twenty-five years of archival materials including drawings, photographs, and sculptures. The following day, at Parco del Ciliegio, the mural dedicated to Father Antonio was inaugurated, promoted by the Franciscan community together with local associations.

From Friday to Sunday, the heart of the event moved to Parco della Rinascita, with writers at work all day, DJ sets by DJ Marcellino, and three evenings of free concerts. Alongside the walls: workshops for children, skate classes, open mic, vintage and vinyl markets, a street food area, and the Anna Gallo Photography Contest. The edition coincided with the 2026 European Universities Games hosted in the Salerno area, significantly increasing the international audience.
