The pop, nerd, and geek culture festival on the Roman coast
Ostia Comix is a festival dedicated to pop, nerd, and geek culture held in Lido di Ostia, the seaside district of the Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region. Born in 2021 from the collaboration between Francesco Spina and Emanuele Carta, the event has grown with each edition to become one of the most anticipated appointments on the Roman coast for fans of comics, cosplay, gaming, and Japanese and Korean culture. The festival is organized by the cultural association Satyrnet and admission is completely free.
The event's setting is one of the most unique in the Italian fair scene: the Il Curvone free beach, in Piazzale Magellano, where stands, stages, and gaming areas overlook the sand directly. This open-air formula, which combines the atmosphere of a nerd convention with the charm of the coastline, makes Ostia Comix a unique event, capable of attracting families, young people, and enthusiasts from across the entire Rome metropolitan area.
The festival spans three days, each with a distinct character:
Throughout all three days, numerous themed areas remain active continuously. Fans can test their skills in trading card game tournaments with the latest titles, participate in role-playing and board game sessions, try out Beyblade tournaments, and engage in activities dedicated to Mini 4WD. There is also the Artist Alley, a space reserved for illustrators, comic artists, writers, and emerging creators, who can showcase and sell their works to the public.
With its drawing, illustration, and manga workshops, creative activities for children, and introductory paths into the world of gaming, Ostia Comix confirms itself as an event suitable for an audience of all ages. The combination of pop culture, live music, and a seaside setting makes this festival an unmissable stop during the Roman summer, a different and fun way to experience the sea of Ostia.
The sixth edition of Ostia Comix was held from June 26 to 28, 2026, on the coast of Rome, at the Il Curvone free beach in Piazzale Magellano. Three days with free admission organized by the Satyrnet association, with a program divided into themed days.
Friday was dedicated to Korean and Japanese culture, with the fourth edition of the K-pop Contest, Random Play Dance, showcases, and a musical evening. Saturday offered all-around nerd entertainment, with panels, meetings with voice actors, live painting, and a concert by the Italian cult band Gem Boy. Sunday celebrated comics and creativity, with authors, illustrators, and publishers, culminating in the grand cosplay competition.
Throughout the days, gaming areas remained active, with trading card game tournaments (Lorcana, One Piece Card Game, Magic, Star Wars Unlimited, Riftbound), role-playing games, board games, Beyblade tournaments, Mini 4WD, and the Artist Alley for emerging creators.
The festival is held in Piazzale Magellano, at the Il Curvone free beach, in Lido di Ostia (Rome). From Rome city center, it is easily accessible via the Rome-Lido railway (Metromare line) to the Lido Centro or Stella Polare stations, or by car via the Via del Mare / Via Cristoforo Colombo. Parking and beach clubs are available nearby.
Admission is free. Activities take place in the afternoon and continue until late at night throughout all three days. It is recommended to check the official social media channels for updates on times and the program.
As this is a beach event, comfortable clothing, water, and sunscreen are recommended during the day. In the evening, the climate is cooler for concerts and performances.
