The major pop culture festival at Fiera di Roma, held twice a year featuring comics, anime, cinema, and games
Romics is the International Festival of Comics, Animation, Cinema, and Games held at Fiera di Roma, in the Portuense district of Rome, Lazio. Since its inception in 2001, it has become one of Europe's most significant events dedicated to comics and entertainment, with a unique feature in Italy: it takes place twice a year, with a spring and an autumn edition, each spanning four days.
Every edition occupies over 70,000 square meters of exhibition space, welcoming hundreds of exhibitors, publishers, artists, and fan communities from across Italy. The festival bridges the gap between the major entertainment industry and the passion of manga, anime, cinema, comic, and video game enthusiasts.
Romics is divided into numerous thematic areas covering every facet of pop culture:
The heart of the event is the Romics d'Oro, the awards that the festival bestows upon masters of comics, animation, and special effects. Over the years, the award has celebrated world-renowned authors, establishing Romics as a cultural landmark rather than just a commercial event.
Among the most anticipated events is the Romics Cosplay Award, the spectacular costume competition that selects the Italian representative for international finals. Parades, themed gatherings, and contests bring the pavilions to life, turning Fiera di Roma into a kaleidoscope of characters.
Thanks to the Fiera di Roma venue, which is easily accessible and offers vast spaces, Romics attracts tens of thousands of visitors each edition. For the city of Rome and the entire Lazio region, it represents one of the most popular cultural mass events, capable of uniting different generations around a shared passion for creativity, imagination, and entertainment.
From October 1 to 4, 2026, Fiera di Roma hosts the 37th edition of Romics, the autumn appointment of the International Festival of Comics, Animation, Cinema, and Games. Four days packed with meetings, shows, previews, and international guests confirm Romics' role as a meeting place between the entertainment industry and communities passionate about manga, anime, cinema, comics, and video games.
Among the guests of honor awarded with the Romics d'Oro are Simone Legno, founder and creative director of the tokidoki brand, and Takeshi Koike, Japanese director and animator. The Entertainment Area returns, serving as a meeting point for fans, performers, and communities from all over Italy.
The Romics Cosplay Award is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026. There will also be the Artist Alley, the Self Area for independent authors, the Pro Area for professional networking, the games area with tournaments and previews, as well as numerous cosplayer gatherings.
