The Easter concert by the Algund wind band at the Thalguterhaus
The Osterkonzert der Algunder Musikkapelle is the annual Easter concert that gathers the public of Lagundo/Algund every Easter Sunday at the Thalguterhaus Raiffeisensaal. Located at the gates of Merano, in the heart of the Burgraviato in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol), the town of Lagundo maintains a vibrant band tradition, of which the Algunder Musikkapelle has been the most beloved protagonist for generations.
The Algunder Musikkapelle currently counts about eighty active musicians and has been led since 2000 by conductor Christian Laimer, a clarinetist and percussionist trained at the Tiroler Landeskonservatorium. The band accompanies the civil and religious life of the town and pays special attention to the musical education of young people. Throughout the year, it offers several prominent events, from the Dreikönigskonzert on Epiphany to summer concerts, but it is the Easter concert that ideally concludes the festivities with a high-quality musical moment.
Under the baton of Christian Laimer, the "Algunder" perform high-level wind music. The program follows a proven formula that alternates transcriptions of classical works, original compositions for wind orchestra, marches, and polkas. The musicians perform in the traditional costumes of the valley, which add a touch of solemnity and color typical of South Tyrolean culture to the concert.
The Easter concert is much more than just a musical event: it is a community ritual that renews the bond between the band and the town of Lagundo every year. The intimate setting of the Thalguterhaus, the historic home of the Musikkapelle's activities, offers warm acoustics and a familiar atmosphere. Admission is free: voluntary donations to support the association are appreciated.
The 2026 Easter concert by the Algunder Musikkapelle took place on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Easter Day, at 6:00 PM in the Raiffeisensaal of the Thalguterhaus in Lagundo/Algund (BZ).
The band, conducted by Christian Laimer and composed of about eighty musicians in traditional costume, presented the usual mix of classical transcriptions, original compositions for wind orchestra, marches, and polkas. Admission was free, with voluntary donations accepted to support the association.
Lagundo/Algund is located a few kilometers west of Merano, in the province of Bolzano. By car, it can be reached via the MeBo expressway (Bolzano-Merano), taking the Merano/Sinigo exit and continuing towards Lagundo. By train, the reference station is Merano, connected to Bolzano, from where you can continue with urban and suburban buses of the Burgraviato.
