Celebrating the summer solstice with music in the Messapian city
Every year on June 21st, coinciding with the summer solstice, the town of Oria joins the international Music Festival circuit, an event originally launched in France as the Fรชte de la Musique and now celebrated across Europe and the globe. In this small town in the Province of Brindisi, in the heart of Salento, the event has been organized since 2020 by the 33art Music School, which has turned it into one of the most anticipated highlights of the early summer in Oria.
The heart of the festival lies in its children, teenagers, and school students, who take center stage alongside various musical groups involved in the project's artistic and educational journey. They are joined by emerging artists from the Apulian scene and, in each edition, a special guest of national renown, capable of drawing a large crowd and showcasing the school's work. The evening thus combines educational goals with live performance, celebrating music as a tool for growth, community building, and identity for the entire town.
The event takes place in the most evocative spots of Oria, from the historic town squares to monumental courtyards. In 2026, the chosen venue is the Cloister of Parco Montalbano, a site of significant historical and scenic value at the foot of the famous Swabian castle. This aligns perfectly with the year's national theme, The Voice of Places, which invites us to rediscover spaces, memories, and identities through the living power of music. This is not the first time Oria's architectural heritage has provided the backdrop for the event, highlighting the deep bond between musical culture and the city's history.
Perched on a hill between Brindisi and Taranto, Oria is famous for its medieval Palio and its remarkably charming historic center: the Music Festival fits seamlessly into this cultural vocation, offering a free, open-to-all event that kicks off the rich summer season in Puglia. For one night, singing and concerts bring alleys and courtyards to life, involving residents and visitors in a festive atmosphere that celebrates the talent of the Salento region.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, on the day of the summer solstice, the Oria Music Festival brought the evocative Cloister of Parco Montalbano to life, at the foot of the Swabian castle. The choice of location was tied to the year's national theme, The Voice of Places, which invites us to rediscover spaces, memories, and identities through music.
The evening, organized by the 33art Music School under the artistic direction of Maestro Salvatore Lana Delli Santi, showcased children, teenagers, and school students alongside musical groups involved in the educational program. The special guest of the edition was Cioffi, a singer-songwriter of Salento origins, one of the most followed voices of the new Italian pop scene and a recurring face in recent editions of Battiti Live.
