The Sicilian craft, design and vintage market in Palermo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Opificia is the market in Palermo that highlights the excellence of Sicilian craftsmanship, design, and vintage. Established in 2019 by Luca Tumminia, organizer and president of the Associazione Artigianando, the event has quickly become a must-attend for lovers of handmade goods and unique pieces. Several times a year, between spring and autumn, Opificia transforms the historic mansions and cultural venues of the Sicilian capital into a vast, pop-up workshop where dozens of artisans meet the public directly.
Visitors can admire and purchase entirely handmade creations: carefully stitched bags, clothing, jewelry and bijoux, artistic ceramics, home decor items, and illustrations. Alongside contemporary crafts, there is a section dedicated to vintage, featuring garments and objects that capture the style and taste of bygone eras. The experiential aspect is central: every visitor can learn about the stories and techniques behind each piece by speaking directly with the creators.
Over the years, Opificia has chosen various evocative settings in the city of Palermo: the Art Nouveau halls of Villa Pottino on Via Emanuele Notarbartolo, the spaces of the Nuove Officine della Zisa (NOZ) at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, and the Centro Culturale Biotos on Via XII Gennaio, which hosted the autumn 2025 edition. This rotation through the city's iconic landmarks is part of the event's identity and helps to showcase a different piece of the city's heritage each time.
More than just a fair, Opificia is an opportunity to support the work of Sicilian artisans and rediscover the value of traditional crafts on the island. With free admission and a convivial atmosphere—often enhanced by a food area and live music—it is an event suitable for families, curious visitors, and design enthusiasts alike. As part of the Sicilian capital's rich calendar of events, this market offers a small journey into the region's manufacturing excellence in the heart of Palermo.
The 2026 edition of Opificia in Palermo is expected to follow in the footsteps of previous editions dedicated to Sicilian craft, design, and vintage. At the moment, the dates, venue, and program have not yet been officially announced by the Associazione Artigianando. In previous seasons, the market has taken place between spring and autumn in venues such as Villa Pottino, the Nuove Officine della Zisa, and the Centro Culturale Biotos. This page will be updated as soon as the organizers communicate the new schedule.
Opificia editions are held in various venues across Palermo, including the Centro Culturale Biotos (Via XII Gennaio 2), Villa Pottino (Via Emanuele Notarbartolo 28A), and the Nuove Officine della Zisa at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa.
Palermo is accessible by plane (Falcone-Borsellino Airport in Punta Raisi), by train (Central Station), and by car. The event venues are located in central and semi-central areas of the city, well-served by public transport.
Admission to the editions is generally free. Typical hours: from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
