Wooden chalets and Sicilian craftsmanship in the historic heart of Palermo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Via Cavour Christmas Market is one of the most charming events of the holiday season in the historic center of Palermo, in the heart of Sicily. Along the street in the Tribunali-Castellammare district, just a short walk from the Teatro Massimo, a series of wooden chalets decorated with mistletoe and fairy lights creates a perfect Northern European atmosphere. It is a delightful stroll that, thanks to the festive lights and seasonal scents, offers an authentic taste of a Palermitan Christmas.
The market focuses on the work of local master artisans. Among the fifteen chalets, you will find Christmas decorations, artistic ceramics, handmade coppole caps, books and vinyls, ethnic jewelry, lamps, candles, and artisanal fragrances. It is a showcase that celebrates Sicilian know-how and offers visitors the chance to choose original gifts, far from mass-produced items.
The Via Cavour initiative, promoted by Xinergie, Quarto Tempo, and Tumminia Luca Eventi, runs alongside the NatALAB market curated by the ALAB Association (Association of Free Artisans-Artists), which sets up its own chalets every December dedicated to handmade creations. ALAB celebrates the talent of Palermitan artist-artisans and, in addition to sales, offers workshops and moments dedicated to traditional techniques, with the goal of preserving endangered artistic crafts.
Between one stall and another, the market becomes a meeting point for both locals and tourists visiting the city during the holidays. Admission is free and its central location in the Municipality of Palermo makes it easily accessible on foot from the main Christmas shopping streets. It is the perfect opportunity to combine the tradition of a Sicilian Christmas with the discovery of regional craftsmanship in a refined and welcoming atmosphere.
The market runs throughout the holiday season, typically from early December until Epiphany, with daily openings and extended hours on weekends. For the next edition, it is advisable to check dates and details on the organizers' channels before planning your visit.
For the 2026 holiday season, the Via Cavour Christmas Market and the NatALAB market curated by the ALAB Association are expected to renew their Christmas appointment in the heart of Palermo, with wooden chalets and Sicilian craftsmanship taking center stage. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the program and hours will be communicated by the organizers closer to the holidays.
