About Via Cavour Christmas Market

Every December, Palermo's historic center comes alive with the Via Cavour Christmas Market, a row of Northern European-style wooden chalets showcasing the best of Sicilian craftsmanship. Christmas decorations, artistic ceramics, handmade coppole caps, ethnic jewelry, lamps, candles, and fragrances fill the air as you stroll beneath the festive lights. The market works in tandem with the NatALAB market by the ALAB Association, bringing the talent of the city's master artisans to the square. Free admission, authentic atmosphere, and unique handmade gifts for the whole family.

Handcrafted Christmas in the heart of Palermo

The Via Cavour Christmas Market is one of the most charming events of the holiday season in the historic center of Palermo, in the heart of Sicily. Along the street in the Tribunali-Castellammare district, just a short walk from the Teatro Massimo, a series of wooden chalets decorated with mistletoe and fairy lights creates a perfect Northern European atmosphere. It is a delightful stroll that, thanks to the festive lights and seasonal scents, offers an authentic taste of a Palermitan Christmas.

Sicilian craftsmanship takes center stage

The market focuses on the work of local master artisans. Among the fifteen chalets, you will find Christmas decorations, artistic ceramics, handmade coppole caps, books and vinyls, ethnic jewelry, lamps, candles, and artisanal fragrances. It is a showcase that celebrates Sicilian know-how and offers visitors the chance to choose original gifts, far from mass-produced items.

The collaboration with NatALAB and the ALAB Association

The Via Cavour initiative, promoted by Xinergie, Quarto Tempo, and Tumminia Luca Eventi, runs alongside the NatALAB market curated by the ALAB Association (Association of Free Artisans-Artists), which sets up its own chalets every December dedicated to handmade creations. ALAB celebrates the talent of Palermitan artist-artisans and, in addition to sales, offers workshops and moments dedicated to traditional techniques, with the goal of preserving endangered artistic crafts.

A celebration for the whole city

Between one stall and another, the market becomes a meeting point for both locals and tourists visiting the city during the holidays. Admission is free and its central location in the Municipality of Palermo makes it easily accessible on foot from the main Christmas shopping streets. It is the perfect opportunity to combine the tradition of a Sicilian Christmas with the discovery of regional craftsmanship in a refined and welcoming atmosphere.

When it takes place

The market runs throughout the holiday season, typically from early December until Epiphany, with daily openings and extended hours on weekends. For the next edition, it is advisable to check dates and details on the organizers' channels before planning your visit.
