The olive and olive oil festival in the village of Castel Madama
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
OliOlive is the food and wine event celebrating extra virgin olive oil and the table olives typical of Castel Madama, a village in the Aniene Valley within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. Every autumn, following the harvest and milling season, the historic center transforms into a grand showcase of flavors: streets and squares bustle with producers, associations, and local artisans, while the air fills with the scent of fresh oil.
The heart of the festival is Piazza Dante, which hosts stands from local olive oil companies, workshops, guided tastings, and art exhibitions. The event combines the popular spirit of a festival with a cultural and educational approach: alongside olive and oil tastings, there are technical conferences, show cooking sessions with local chefs, guided tours of Castello Orsini, and musical entertainment for all ages.
Castel Madama boasts deep-rooted olive-growing history, with groves shaping the hills around the town and production managed by companies such as Ficacci Olive, Madama Oliva, and Salviani Olive. The table olive is a true gastronomic identity here, further promoted by ASS.O.M. (Olive Growers Association) and its scientific conferences dedicated to nutrition, health, and tradition. OliOlive was created to share this heritage with the public, blending celebration with product knowledge.
OliOlive is a free-entry event designed to engage families, young people, and food and wine enthusiasts. The village atmosphere, the lights on Castello Orsini, and the rich culinary offerings have made the festival one of the most anticipated autumn events in the Aniene Valley, attracting visitors from across the province of Rome and beyond.
Following the great success of the 2025 edition, which saw record attendance in the village, OliOlive will return to Castel Madama in autumn 2026. The event is traditionally held in mid-November, during the olive harvest and milling season.
At the moment, the official dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been communicated. This page will be updated as soon as the Municipality of Castel Madama, the Pro Loco, and the ASS.O.M. release the final information.
Castel Madama is located in the Aniene Valley, east of Rome. By car, take the A24 Rome-L'Aquila motorway and exit at Castel Madama. By train, the Castel Madama station is served by the regional Rome-Avezzano-Pescara line. Events take place in the historic center, between Piazza Dante and Castello Orsini.
