In Agosta, a small village in the Aniene Valley near Rome, the arrival of the cold season is celebrated with the Autumn Festival, one of the most anticipated events on the local calendar. Every year, towards the end of October, the central Piazza San Nicola transforms into a large, convivial space where the genuine flavors of Lazio's rural tradition take center stage.

Roasted chestnuts, new wine, and mutton gnocchi

The gastronomic heart of the event is dedicated to seasonal specialties. Freshly roasted chestnuts and new wine pair perfectly with the festival's signature dish: mutton gnocchi, a hearty and ancient recipe from the Apennine culinary tradition, prepared according to local custom. The food stalls also offer other local specialties, creating a culinary journey that celebrates the authentic flavors of autumn.

Music, markets, and conviviality

Beyond the food and wine, the Autumn Festival features live music and an artisan market showcasing handmade goods and traditional crafts, set up along the town center streets.
