The pasta festival hosted by the Musikkapelle Montan in the town square of Montagna sulla Strada del Vino
The Nudelfest is one of the most beloved popular festivals in Montagna sulla Strada del Vino (known as Montan an der Weinstraße in German), a small municipality in the Bassa Atesina area of the Bolzano province, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. The event takes place in the town hall square (Gemeindeplatz) and is organized by the Musikkapelle Montan, the local brass band, which has been inviting residents and guests to this convivial evening for years.
As the German name suggests, the heart of the Nudelfest is the «Nudeln», pasta prepared according to tradition: steaming plates served directly in the square, accompanied by local wines and South Tyrolean gastronomic specialties. It is a simple, genuine festival, typical of South Tyrolean villages, where the brass band funds its activities by involving the entire community in an evening of good food and cheer.
The evening is brought to life by live music and the festive atmosphere typical of mountain fairs. Children, families, and tourists traveling along the Wine Road gather around the tables set up in the square, while volunteers and band members serve the guests. The collaboration with the volunteer firefighters (Freiwillige Feuerwehr) is a tradition that strengthens the community spirit of the event.
Montagna sits on a sunny terrace above the Adige Valley, at the gateway to the Dolomites Road, and is famous for having some of the most highly regarded vineyards in South Tyrol: it is particularly known for its Pinot Noir, which is celebrated well beyond the regional borders. The village, with its hamlets of Pinzano, Doladizza, Gleno, and Casignano, preserves historical landmarks such as Castel d'Enna and the nearby Castelfeder archaeological site. The Nudelfest is the perfect opportunity to discover this authentic corner of the Bassa Atesina, blending tradition, wine, and South Tyrolean hospitality.
The festival usually takes place on a summer evening in July, starting in the early evening in the main town square. Admission to the festival area is free; you only pay for what you consume. For updates on dates and the program, it is recommended to check the Musikkapelle Montan website or the Castelfeder tourist offices.
The Nudelfest 2026 is scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 6:00 PM in the main square (Gemeindeplatz) of Montagna sulla Strada del Vino, in the Bassa Atesina region. The evening, organized by the Musikkapelle Montan, features traditional pasta dishes («Nudeln»), accompanied by local wines and South Tyrolean specialties. Details regarding the evening's musical program will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event. Admission to the festival area is free.
Montagna sulla Strada del Vino can be reached by car via the Dolomites Road (SS48) by exiting the A22 Brenner motorway at the Egna/Ora toll booth, just a few kilometers from the village. The nearest train station is Ora/Auer, on the Bolzano-Trento line, from where you can continue by bus or car to Montagna.
The festival takes place in the town hall square starting in the early evening (approximately from 6:00 PM). Admission is free; costs apply only to the pasta dishes, drinks, and specialties consumed on-site.
We recommend combining your visit with a walk along the Wine Road and a tasting of local wines, particularly the Pinot Noir. For tourist information and accommodation, please contact the Feriendestination Castelfeder (tel. +39 0471 810231).
