About Notti Aragonesi

For three July nights, the Aragonese Tower of Pietradefusi, in the heart of Irpinia, becomes the village's vibrant hub. Notti Aragonesi is the summer festival promoted by the Youth Forum with the patronage of the Municipality: live concerts, indie music, vinyl listening sessions, folk storytelling, and DJ sets bring Piazza Nicola Melisci and Piazza Padre Ludovico Acernese to life until late at night, allowing this village in the province of Avellino to reclaim its main square and iconic monument.

Three summer nights beneath the Aragonese Tower

In mid-July, Pietradefusi, a small town in the province of Avellino overlooking the middle Calore valley, entrusts its evenings to the Notti Aragonesi. The festival is built around the Aragonese Tower, the town's most iconic landmark, and extends into the two surrounding squares: Piazza Nicola Melisci and Piazza Padre Ludovico Acernese. Three evenings of concerts, DJ sets, and storytelling transform the center into a sprawling stage, with the audience moving from one corner to another, following the music.

A project by the Youth Forum

Notti Aragonesi is organized by the Pietradefusi Youth Forum with the patronage of the Municipality. It is a grassroots event, with local young people managing the setup, hospitality, and programming: a formula that is yielding concrete results in Irpinia, as it combines the desire for summer entertainment with the promotion of a historical asset that might otherwise remain on the margins of daily life. In previous editions, the artistic direction was entrusted to Roberto D'Agnese of Omast Eventi, featuring evenings dedicated to folk dances and music, from the Montemarano tarantella to Celtic sounds.

The program: from indie to vinyl

The musical style is intentionally young and diverse. Alongside live concerts, there is space for collective vinyl listening, DJ sets that keep the party going until late, and moments of folk storytelling. There is no single stage: the two squares operate in parallel, allowing visitors to create their own path for the evening.

  • Live concerts with bands and musical projects from the Irpinia and Campania regions
  • Indie music and acts outside the mainstream commercial circuits
  • Vinyl aperitif, with a selection of records to listen to in the late afternoon
  • DJ sets to close the evening, beneath the illuminated tower
  • Contacunti and folk storytelling sessions in the main square

The Aragonese Tower, symbol of the town

The tower dominates the historical passage between the Passo di Dentecane and the ancient settlement of Pietra delli Fusi. Conceived at the end of the 14th century on the initiative of Giacomo de Tocco, son of the feudal lord Roberto, it was later completed by the will of Cardinal Ugone di Lusignano, linked to the Abbey of Montevergine. At its base, a 'portolania' operatedโ€”a toll station that controlled the transit of flocks and merchants along the route that followed the ancient Appian Way; the toll right remained in force until the end of the 18th century. Today, the tower and its gardens are the natural setting for the town's community events.

Pietradefusi, the village of nougat

Those arriving for the festival find themselves in one of the most delicious areas of inland Campania: the Dentecane hamlet is famous for its artisanal nougat production, handed down by families of nougat makers for over two centuries and now a true hallmark of Irpinia. Surrounding it are the hills of the Calore valley, halfway between Avellino and Benevento, in an area also known for its red wines. A trip to Notti Aragonesi is easily combined with a stop at a nougat factory or a visit to nearby villages, starting with Montefusco.

What to expect

It is a village festival in the best sense of the term: an intergenerational audience, short walking distances, and hours that start at 9:00 PM and stretch well past midnight. The hillside air makes the evenings pleasant even in the height of summer, but a light sweater is always a good idea. The squares are outdoors and easily accessible, with the illuminated Aragonese Tower providing a natural backdrop for every photo.

Notti Aragonesi โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Notti Aragonesi was held in Pietradefusi from Friday, July 17th to Sunday, July 19th, with three evenings spread between Piazza Nicola Melisci and Piazza Padre Ludovico Acernese, at the foot of the Aragonese Tower. The lineup included storytelling by Contacunti, a live set by U-Tone, indie music by Frontiere Antimusicali, concerts by Massimo Lobresca and Micamario Queidue, a vinyl aperitif with Vinyl Gianpy, and late-night DJ sets by Angelo T.

Notti Aragonesi 2026: the weekend of July 17-19

For the 2026 edition, the Pietradefusi Youth Forum chose a three-consecutive-evening format, from Friday to Sunday, with the patronage of the Municipality. Two meeting points were active in parallel: Piazza Nicola Melisci and Piazza Padre Ludovico Acernese, both right next to the Aragonese Tower.

The program alternated between different styles: folk storytelling by Contacunti, rock by U-Tone, indie music by Frontiere Antimusicali, and live performances by Massimo Lobresca and Micamario Queidue. Sunday opened at 6:30 PM with a vinyl aperitif curated by Vinyl Gianpy, dedicated to record enthusiasts. Closing each night were DJ sets by DJ Revolution by Angelo T, with the illuminated tower behind the audience.

Once again this year, the event confirmed its nature as a community festival, capable of attracting audiences from neighboring towns in the province of Avellino.
