Music, shooting stars, and culture in the village of Spoltore
Notes Under the Stars is the summer event that transforms the historic center of Spoltore, a hilltop town in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo, into a widespread stage for music, culture, and astronomy every August. Conceived and organized by the Pro Loco of Spoltore Terra dei 5 borghi with the support of the municipal administration, the event takes place around the night of San Lorenzo and the Perseid meteor shower, when the summer sky fills with shooting stars.
The beating heart of the festival is the series of evening concerts that bring Piazza D'Albenzio and the most characteristic corners of the historic center to life. The musical program focuses on singer-songwriters and young local talent, featuring acoustic sets, live performances, and DJ sets. A special role is played by the partnership with the I.I.S. A. Volta institute in Pescara, which involves students and youth musical projects, giving a voice to the new generation of the Abruzzo scene.
One of the most evocative highlights is the guided astronomical observation from the Castle Bastion, curated by teachers and students from the Volta Institute. With the help of telescopes, the public can observe planets, constellations, and the summer sky, accompanied by the telling of legends and myths linked to the stars. It is an opportunity to truly look "beyond," on the night when tradition invites you to make a wish.
Notes Under the Stars is designed for all ages. The program includes creative and scientific workshops for children and families, reading corners, games, humanoid robots, and theatrical performances. There are also photography exhibitions set up in the village spaces and tastings of traditional Abruzzo dishes offered at the Pro Loco Club, for an experience that weaves together music, science, art, and local gastronomy.
Now in its many editions, the festival has established itself as one of the most anticipated events of the Abruzzo summer, capable of enhancing the identity of Spoltore and its five villages. Its free, widespread format across the town's symbolic locations makes it a community event, where residents and visitors share evenings of music under the starry August sky.
For the summer of 2026, Notes Under the Stars returns to Spoltore on August 9 and 10, confirming its appointment on the night of the shooting stars. The free event organized by the Pro Loco of Spoltore will once again offer evening concerts in Piazza D'Albenzio, astronomical observations from the Castle Bastion, family workshops, exhibitions, and tastings of Abruzzo cuisine in the village's historic center.
At the moment, the Pro Loco has not yet released the full line-up and detailed program for the 2026 edition: artists and precise times will be communicated through the event's official channels in the weeks preceding the festival.
Spoltore is located just a few kilometers from Pescara. By car: take the Pescara Ovest exit on the A25 motorway, then follow signs for Spoltore. By train: arrive at Pescara Centrale station, then take bus connections to Spoltore. Abruzzo Airport (Pescara) is a short distance away.
Admission to the event is free. Astronomical observation at the Castle Bastion requires a reservation via WhatsApp at +39 350 1811922. Info: [email protected].
Events take place in the evening, from 6:00 PM until midnight. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing for walking through the alleys of the historic center and booking your spot for the astronomical observation in advance.
