The new festival celebrating Celtic and Irish culture in the heart of the Teramo hills
The Notaresco Irish Festival is the event dedicated to Celtic and Irish music and culture announced for the end of summer 2026 by the municipal administration of Notaresco, a hillside village in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo. The initiative was presented by Mayor Antonio "Tony" Di Gianvittorio and inherits the long tradition of Celtic events that animated the town for years at the end of August, transforming it into a small corner of Ireland overlooking the Vomano valley.
For over a decade, Notaresco was home to one of the most popular Abruzzo events linked to Irish and Celtic culture, attracting thousands of visitors from across the region. Following the breakdown of relations between the Municipality and the association that held the trademark of the historic festival, the administration chose to launch a new, independent event with a deliberately different name, ensuring that the public, economic impact, and identity the village had built over the years would not be lost.
The festival follows in the footsteps of Italian Celtic celebrations, blending concerts, conviviality, and re-enactments. The announced format features the classic elements of this type of event:
Taking place in the final days of August, the Notaresco Irish Festival aims to confirm the Municipality of Notaresco's status as a reference point for Celtic culture enthusiasts in Central Italy. The event also serves as an important driver for tourism and local businesses in the Teramo village during a particularly vibrant time for Abruzzo's summer events. The detailed program, including artists and schedules, will be announced by the municipal administration in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Notaresco Irish Festival debuts in Notaresco (province of Teramo) from August 28 to 30, 2026. The new event, announced by Mayor Antonio Di Gianvittorio, is promoted directly by the Municipality and aims to continue the Celtic and Irish vocation that has characterized the village over the years, with three days of live music, Irish atmospheres, beer, and themed street food in the town center. The dates have been made official, while the detailed program — including the concert line-up, schedules, and any entry requirements — has not yet been released and will be published by the municipal administration in the weeks leading up to the event.
The festival is held in Notaresco (TE), in the town center, in the province of Teramo (Abruzzo).
Notaresco can be reached by car via the A14 motorway (exits Roseto degli Abruzzi or Val Vomano) and the SS150. The nearest train station is Roseto degli Abruzzi, on the Adriatic line, from which you can continue by car or local transport.
The 2026 edition is scheduled for the end of August. The program with artists, schedules, and any entry requirements will be published by the Municipality of Notaresco closer to the event: we recommend following the official municipal channels.
