The night that closes the «Christmas in the City» festival with music, between Piazza Marco Polo and Via Vincenzo Russo
When January brings the cold and the festive lights are about to be taken down, Nocera Superiore chooses to step up: the White Night is the event that closes the municipal «Christmas in the City» festival, transforming the town center into a large open-air celebration space. Music, shows, entertainment for children, shops open late, and street food: for one evening, this town in the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese area, in the province of Salerno, stays awake and reclaims its squares.
The event unfolds along a precise axis. Via Vincenzo Russo hosts street performers, ambient music, the village dedicated to children, and activities designed for all age groups, while Piazza Marco Polo welcomes the main stage and the big evening show. It is a simple and well-tested formula that allows you to stroll from one attraction to another without ever losing the thread of the evening, with the two locations just a few minutes' walk from each other.
The most anticipated moment is entrusted to «Febbre Italiana», a traveling format created by the same minds behind «Nostalgia 90». It is not just a simple DJ set: the show is built as a journey through the history of Italian music reinterpreted in a dance style, with live vocalists, themed costumes, special effects, and video content projected on stage. The result is a high-impact, highly participatory show that manages to please audiences of different ages: those who danced to those songs when they were released and those who are rediscovering them today.
Before the music starts, there is plenty of space for children. From the late afternoon, an animated village comes to life with mascots, games, group dances, and creative workshops: a choice that makes the White Night a truly intergenerational event, where families arrive early and happily stay until the evening.
The White Night is also an economic opportunity for the area: for the duration of the event, commercial businesses remain open, and a wide selection of sweet and savory street food accompanies the public along the route. The initiative is also supported by the Salerno Chamber of Commerce, confirming the role these events play for local commerce in the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese area.
The event does not stand alone: it is part of the «Christmas in the City» program promoted by the municipal administration led by Mayor Gennaro D'Acunzi, which between December and Epiphany features markets, concerts, themed villages, living nativity scenes, the tourist train, and events for young people. The White Night represents its most festive conclusion, the one that brings the largest number of people to the streets and which the administration describes as «an important opportunity for aggregation and conviviality for the entire community».
It is worth arriving a few hours early. Nocera Superiore houses the Paleochristian Baptistery of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the most remarkable paleochristian baptisteries in Southern Italy, and the «Nuceria Archaeological City» Urban Park, which tells the origins of the ancient Nuceria Alfaterna. A context that gives the evening extra depth: the contemporary festival takes place in a city with over two thousand years of history behind it, in one of the most densely populated and lively areas of Campania.
In a period of the year when outdoor events are scarce, the White Night offers a complete evening at zero cost: entertainment for children, a popular concert-show, street food, and the chance to discover a center in the Agro area that rarely makes it onto tourist itineraries. A good reason to combine a visit to the Baptistery with an evening stroll among the festival lights.
The 2026 edition of the Nocera Superiore White Night had to deal with the weather. Initially scheduled for the night of January 4, it was moved to Saturday, January 10 and finally postponed again, a few hours before the start, to Sunday, January 11, 2026: a decision taken by the municipal administration to allow citizens and visitors to experience the initiative in the best conditions, avoiding the inconveniences related to bad weather. The program remained unchanged, simply shifted by twenty-four hours.
The evening started at 6 PM with the animated village dedicated to the little ones - mascots, games, dances, and creative workshops - set up along Via Vincenzo Russo, where street performers and ambient music alternated. At 9 PM, the Piazza Marco Polo stage hosted «Febbre Italiana», a high-impact DJ set enriched by live vocalists, themed costumes, special effects, and video projections.
For the duration of the event, commercial businesses remained open, accompanied by a wide offer of sweet and savory street food. The initiative, included in the «Christmas in the City» program of the administration led by Mayor Gennaro D'Acunzi, was supported by the Salerno Chamber of Commerce.
The event was originally scheduled for the night of January 4, then for Saturday, January 10: both dates were postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
Nocera Superiore is located in the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese area, in the province of Salerno. By car, the reference point is the Nocera exit on the A3 Naples-Salerno motorway, also used by those arriving from the A30 Caserta-Salerno. By train, the Nocera Superiore station is on the Salerno-Naples regional line via Cava de' Tirreni. The reference airports are Salerno-Costa d'Amalfi and Naples-Capodichino.
The events are concentrated in Piazza Marco Polo and along Via Vincenzo Russo, both in the town center and connected to each other on foot. During the evening, traffic changes are generally expected: it is advisable to park in the neighboring streets and continue on foot.
Admission is free, with no reservation required. As this is an outdoor winter evening event, warm clothing is essential. With children, it is best to arrive around 6 PM, when the animated village opens; those aiming primarily for the live show can arrive around 9 PM. In case of bad weather, the date may be postponed: this has happened in recent editions, so it is always useful to check for updates on the Nocera Superiore Municipality channels before setting off.
