The night when Pinerolo's museums open their doors to the city
There is one night every year when Pinerolo changes its face. Museum doors remain wide open until midnight, historic squares fill with music, and noble palaces come alive with costumed performers. This is the Night of the Muses, a grand, city-wide celebration that the Municipality of Pinerolo, in the heart of the Pinerolese area near Turin, dedicates to its cultural heritage. It is an event that has grown to become one of the most anticipated highlights of the Pinerolo spring.
The concept is simple and fascinating: for one evening, the city's museums join forces and open their doors to the public for free during the evening and night hours. Among the venues bringing the event to life are Palazzo Vittone, the site of the inauguration, the Historical Museum of the Cavalry, the Mutual Aid Museum, the Diocesan Museum, the Alliaudi Civic Library, the Civic Art Gallery, and the new Pinerolese Territory Interpretation Center. These are joined by extraordinary spaces such as the Caprilli Riding School and, in the nearby town of San Secondo di Pinerolo, the evocative Castello di Miradolo with its park.
The strength of the Night of the Muses lies in the program accompanying the openings: costumed guided tours, theatrical performances, concerts, readings, role-playing games, escape rooms, and activities designed for children. Each edition revolves around a theme that serves as a common thread—from medieval literature to modern-day challenges—reinterpreting the city's collections with a fresh perspective. Food trucks, live music, and entertainment in the squares complete an atmosphere of celebration that involves the entire community.
Free and accessible, the Night of the Muses is designed for a wide audience: art enthusiasts, the curious, families with children, and visitors discovering the rich heritage of the Pinerolese area for the first time. The event often extends into Sunday, with itineraries, treasure hunts, and outdoor activities that expand the festivities to the surrounding territory. It is the perfect opportunity to experience Pinerolo from a unique perspective, under the stars of Piedmont.
For its tenth anniversary, the 2026 Night of the Muses chose the theme "A Whole Other Night," an invitation to experience Pinerolo's museums in a new light. On Saturday evening, June 6, from 6:00 PM to midnight, the historic center was transformed into a continuous journey through art, music, and performance, with extraordinary openings, experiential paths, and live shows in the city's main cultural venues in the Pinerolese area near Turin.
The official inauguration at Palazzo Vittone launched a night filled with contemporary art exhibitions, historical paths, and offerings for all ages, concluding on Sunday with a program dedicated to families and the local area.
The event typically takes place over the weekend, with the main evening on Saturday from 6:00 PM until midnight, followed by a Sunday program dedicated to families.
