The challenge between the districts of Villar Perosa, from the White Night throughout the summer
The Palio dei Borghi is the event that officially kicks off the summer in Villar Perosa, a town in the Chisone Valley within the Metropolitan City of Turin, in Piedmont. It is a popular festival born from the town's community spirit: the various borghi (districts) into which the territory is divided compete in a series of games and races spread throughout the summer season, with a final score crowning the winning district. It is the classic village palio, made of friendship, fun, and that touch of local rivalry that keeps everyone hooked until the very last trial.
The 2026 edition opens on Saturday, June 20th, the last day of spring, with a grand White Night that serves as the inauguration of the Palio. For the occasion, the main road crossing the center is closed to traffic and turns into a pedestrian zone buzzing with activity until late at night. The evening is organized by the Villar Perosa da Vivere Association together with local merchants.
In the heart of the evening, the parade of the participating districts takes place, followed by the first official trial of the Palio, "The Group Dance", held right in the center of the closed street, in front of the entire town.
More than just a single event, the Palio dei Borghi is a journey that accompanies Villar Perosa for much of the summer, blending friendly competition, tradition, and the desire to be together. The White Night on June 20th is its most colorful showcase: a perfect opportunity to discover this corner of the province of Turin, at the foot of the Pinerolo mountains, and to experience the authentic atmosphere of a Piedmontese village festival.
