The grand evening parade of allegorical floats and strambicoli in La Loggia
In the heart of the Turin Carnival, the municipality of La Loggia, in the Metropolitan City of Turin (Piedmont), offers an original twist: a parade that doesn't take place during the day, as tradition dictates, but at night, under the stars. This is the Night Carnival, a procession of illuminated allegorical floats that transforms the town's streets into a path of light, music, and color, creating a festive atmosphere unlike any other.
The procession is the true star of the event. Dozens of masked participants, historical and folk groups accompany the allegorical floats arriving from various municipalities in the Piedmont region, along with the characteristic strambicoli—improvised, whimsical vehicles that have become a signature of this festival. Opening the parade, as per tradition, is the La Vigoneisa marching band with its majorettes.
The arrival point and beating heart of the evening is Piazza Cavour, where the final performances, DJ sets, and street food offerings from local vendors and town establishments are concentrated. This is where the party continues after the floats pass by, in a convivial atmosphere open to families, children, and curious visitors.
The event is free to attend and designed for all ages. Organized with the support of the municipal administration and local associations, it has become, in just a few editions, one of the most distinctive carnival events in the southern Turin area, attracting visitors from neighboring towns as well.
La Loggia is located in the southern outskirts of Turin, along the route to Carmagnola. By car, it can be reached via the SS393 or the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (exit Carmagnola/La Loggia). By train, the La Loggia station is served by the SFM (Metropolitan Railway Service) Turin-Bra line.
The festivities are centered in Piazza Cavour and along the parade route, starting from the Elsa Morante square (Parco degli Abbracci). The evening parade kicks off in the early evening.
Free entry, event suitable for all ages.
Given the winter season and the evening timing, warm clothing is recommended. Arrive a little early to find a good spot along the route and in Piazza Cavour.
