Five days of music, gastronomy, and tradition in the heart of Piobesi Torinese
The Santa Maura Patronal Feast is the most cherished event of the year in Piobesi Torinese, a small town in the Province of Turin, Piedmont. Devotion to the patron saint dates back to 1638, when a Franciscan convent was established in the village: it was the friars who introduced the cult of Saint Maura to the local population, with the feast traditionally celebrated on the first Sunday of August. In the past, the religious order would distribute a calf to the town's poorest residents so that everyone could participate in the festivitiesโa gesture of solidarity that perfectly captures the community spirit still at the heart of the event today.
The core of the festival lies in the musical evenings, with free admission, which bring the Social Centre and the town squares to life. Each year, the program alternates between evenings dedicated to younger audiences, traditional ballroom dancing with Piedmontese orchestras, and closing DJ sets featuring the hits that have made generations dance. In recent years, groups and bands highly popular with local audiences have performed, such as Amici di Piobesi, Maria Ravera Orchestra, Mike e i Simpatici, and I Braida, in a familiar and welcoming atmosphere that is the true hallmark of the festival.
The absolute star is the Pro Loco kitchen, which lights the stoves every evening with different dishes: from mixed fried fish to agnolotti with sauce and sausage, from grilled meats to burgers with fries, and even the unmissable paella prepared in collaboration with local delis. Reservations are required for the main evenings, a sign of the event's great success among residents and visitors from the surrounding areas.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Piobesi Torinese in close collaboration with the Pro Loco Tourist Association, local associations, and Civil Protection volunteers. An event that, amidst faith, music, and good food, represents one of the most characteristic summer appointments in the southern belt of Turin.
The Santa Maura Patronal Feast 2026 returns to Piobesi Torinese in early August. The organization is confirmed: "Santa Maura 2026" reservations are already open on the official Pro Loco website. As every year, five evenings are expected with free concerts at the Social Centre, Pro Loco dinners, bocce and fishing competitions, a charity stall, and a funfair in Piazza Donatori di Sangue. The full program with the artists will be released shortly before the event.
Piobesi Torinese is located about 20 km south of Turin, in the Carmagnola area. By car, it can be reached via the SP143; by train, the nearest stations are Carignano or None, with connections to Turin. The evenings take place at the Social Centre and in the town squares (Piazza Donatori di Sangue, Piazza 1ยฐ Maggio).
Evening concerts are free of charge. For the gastronomic evenings, reservations are required (tel. +39 366 2622499 โ Pro Loco Piobesi). Online reservations are available on the official website prolocopiobesi.it.
