About Nero d'Estate

In the heart of San Miniato, in the province of Pisa, Piazza della Repubblica transforms for two evenings into a grand food and wine lounge dedicated to the wines of the San Miniato Hills and summer black truffles. Tastings, Earth Market show-cooking, historical pageants with flag-wavers, music, and DJ sets bring to life the first edition of Nero d'Estate, an event that celebrates the identity of a land where wine and truffles are much more than just gastronomic excellence.

Nero d'Estate: Wine and Truffles take center stage in San Miniato

For two evenings, the historic center of San Miniato, in the Province of Pisa, showcases its culinary soul with Nero d'Estate – Wines & Truffles of the San Miniato Hills. The event, in its first edition, is organized by the Fondazione San Miniato Promozione in collaboration with the Municipality, and was created to highlight two excellences that have made this corner of Tuscany famous: the wine of the San Miniato Hills and the summer black truffle (the scorzone).

What to expect

The heart of the event is the large tasting area set up in Piazza della Repubblica, at the foot of the Seminary, where visitors can sample and purchase local products. The program features around one hundred labels for tasting and about twenty local producers, with the support of sommeliers from the European School of Sommeliers who guide the public in discovering the wines of the hills surrounding the city.

  • Wine tastings of the San Miniato Hills and summer black truffle;
  • Show-cooking hosted by the San Miniato Earth Market (Slow Food network);
  • Visit to MuTart, the museum dedicated to the truffles of San Miniato;
  • Historical pageant of San Miniato with flag-wavers and musicians (Saturday evening);
  • Entertainment for all ages, music, soft clubbing, and DJ sets.

A land with a unique flavor

San Miniato is a name known to truffle lovers worldwide: these hills between Pisa and Florence are famous primarily for the prized autumn white truffle, but in summer, the scorzone takes center stage, alongside wines from an area with a growing reputation for quality. With Nero d'Estate, San Miniato anticipates the truffle season and offers a convivial opportunity to discover the gastronomic identity of the San Miniato Hills in the setting of one of Tuscany's most charming hilltop villages.

The goal of the organizers, as emphasized by the municipal administration, is to build a shared identity for the territory, where wine and truffles are not just a gastronomic heritage but also a strong element of identity for the San Miniato community.

How to make the most of the event

The evenings take place between late afternoon and late night, with the historic center becoming pedestrian-only from 8:00 PM. A free shuttle service connects the valley parking lots to the heart of the village, making it easy to reach Piazza della Repubblica without worrying about parking.
