A community celebration in the heart of Sicily

The Neighborhoods Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Regalbuto, a town in the province of Enna overlooking Lake Pozzillo, in the heart of inland Sicily. It is not a single isolated event, but a series of evenings that, between July and August, rotate through the various districts of the village. The stated goal is simple yet profound: to revitalize the neighborhoods and keep the social spirit alive in a town that, during the summer, welcomes back many former residents returning for their holidays.

The ritual of the evening

Each celebration follows a well-established script. It begins with the neighborhood blessing, conducted by the San Basilio Parish of Regalbuto: a religious moment that ties the event to the town's popular devotion. Immediately after, the focus shifts to folklore, with music, entertainment, and tastings. In the streets and small squares of the district, large communal tables are set up where the local women offer neighbors and visitors traditional dishes: sweet and savory treats and seasonal fruit, shared for free with anyone passing by.

Dancing and atmosphere

Music is the soul of the evening. People dance until late at night to ballroom, Latin-American, disco, and traditional dances, in a festive atmosphere that brings together children, young people, and the elderly. It is an authentic street festival, far from large stages and commercial logic, where the protagonist remains the neighborhood itself and its people.

Who organizes it

The event is promoted by the "Un sorriso per tutti" association, with the involvement of various local volunteer groups gathered around C.A.V.E.N., Vol.Si., and C.S.V.E., under the patronage of the Municipality of Regalbuto and in collaboration with the San Basilio Parish. The evenings are part of the town's wider summer calendar, which revolves around the celebrations in honor of the patron saint San Vito and numerous side events.
