An evening dedicated to nocturnal birds of prey at the Homo et Ibex Centre in Ceresole Reale
On summer evenings, when silence falls over the peaks of the Orco Valley, the forest comes alive with hidden voices: these are the nocturnal birds of prey of the Gran Paradiso National Park. The evening "Owls and Owlets of Gran Paradiso: Secrets of the Nocturnal Birds of Prey", scheduled for July 17, 2026, at the Homo et Ibex Visitor Centre in Ceresole Reale, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, is dedicated to them. An informative meeting that invites adults and children to discover eagle owls, owlets, tawny owls, and barn owls, through surprising adaptations, hunting strategies, and curiosities about species that are difficult to observe.
The evening is part of the "Nature in Evolution" series, a cycle of events promoted by the Gran Paradiso National Park, dedicated in 2026 to the theme of biodiversity. The program alternates practical activities for children and teenagers, developed in close contact with scientific research, with educational sessions led by researchers and experts. The 2026 edition holds special significance: it coincides with the twentieth anniversary of alpine biodiversity research conducted by the Park Authority, a wealth of studies ranging from butterflies to ibex, and from rare flora to species DNA.
The Homo et Ibex Visitor Centre is located in the Prese hamlet of Ceresole Reale, within the premises of the former Grand Hotel. The exhibition recounts the millennial relationship between humans and the ibex, the symbol of the Gran Paradiso National Park, through reconstructions of rock carvings, everyday objects, photographs, and paintings, as well as myths and legends linked to this Alpine animal. It is the ideal setting for an evening that combines science, nature, and local culture.
A perfect event for those spending the summer in Ceresole Reale or for those seeking an authentic experience in the mountain regions of Piedmont, away from the most crowded destinations.
