Crafts, hobbies, and creativity along the village streets
The Locana Craft Markets have become a traditional summer fixture in the municipality of Locana, in the Province of Turin, located along the Orco Valley leading to the Gran Paradiso National Park. Promoted by the local council and the Tourist Office, in collaboration with the Pro Loco and local associations, the markets bring dozens of exhibitors specializing in crafts, hobbies, and creative arts to the streets of the historic center.
The event brings together artisans and hobbyists offering unique handmade products. As you walk through the village streets, you will encounter woodwork, textiles, costume jewelry, decorative objects, and original creations designed for the home or as gifts. It is a wonderful opportunity to purchase non-mass-produced items and chat directly with the makers in the relaxed, friendly atmosphere typical of Alpine villages.
Locana is one of the main hubs of the Orco Valley in the Canavese region and serves as one of the gateways to the Piedmontese side of the Gran Paradiso. A day at the market is easily combined with a visit to the village and its surroundings: the municipal swimming pool in Piazza Gran Paradiso and the Cialma chairlift, which leads to panoramic viewpoints with 360-degree views of the valley, complete the experience for those spending the weekend in the area.
The markets are the result of a collaboration between the local council, the Pro Loco, and local associations, forming part of a summer calendar packed with initiatives. Beyond craft shopping, the event supports the local economy: restaurants, food shops, and accommodation facilities offer traditional mountain culinary specialties, making your visit a complete experience in the heart of Piedmont.
The 2026 Locana Craft Markets return with two dates confirmed by the local council and the Tourist Office: Sunday, June 27, starting in the afternoon, and Sunday, August 2, starting in the morning. On both days, the streets of the historic center will host stalls from artisans and hobbyists with unique handmade products.
Exhibitors interested in participating can submit an application to the Locana Tourist Office by the deadlines indicated by the organizers. The detailed program and the list of participants will be announced closer to the event dates.
