A day at the Forteto della Luja WWF Oasis, amidst organic vineyards and the Langa Astigiana
Every spring, the Forteto della Luja Farm, in the municipality of Loazzolo in the Province of Asti, opens the gates of its WWF Oasis for the Nature Festival. The event takes place in the heart of the Langa Astigiana, a corner of Piedmont defined by hills, forests, and vineyards, where organic farming has coexisted with biodiversity conservation for decades.
The theme of the day is the «Exploring Herbs and Flowers» series: guided nature walks led by naturalist Anna Fila, discovering the butterflies, wild orchids, and wild herbs that populate the meadows and forests of the Oasis. It is an opportunity to learn to identify rare species and understand why this territory is so environmentally precious.
During the festival, there are guided tours of the organic vineyard and the estate's historic cellar, along with tastings of the Oasis wines. Forteto della Luja is famous for its Moscato Passito Loazzolo DOC, a rare, sweet wine made from dried Moscato Bianco grapes, but it also produces Barbera d'Asti, Moscato d'Asti, and Brachetto passito. The tasting thus becomes a journey into the most authentic flavors of the Langhe.
The day is enriched by a photo exhibition dedicated to the nature of the Langa Astigiana, the Oasis photo contest with awards in the afternoon, live music, local country-style food, and entertainment and workshops for children. There are also moments of wellness and meetings with local writers and producers.
The Nature Festival is designed for families, nature enthusiasts, hikers, and lovers of fine wine. Immersed in the hilly landscape of Piedmont, it represents a different way to experience the countryside: slow, environmentally conscious, and rooted in the food and wine traditions of the Langa Astigiana.
The 2026 Nature Festival was held on Sunday, May 17, at the Forteto della Luja WWF Oasis in Loazzolo, in the Langa Astigiana. The program, published by the estate at the end of March, confirmed the classic format: the «Exploring Herbs and Flowers» series with nature walks led by naturalist Anna Fila, dedicated to butterflies, wild orchids, and wild herbs.
Throughout the day, guided tours of the organic vineyard and the historic cellar took place, along with tastings of the Oasis wines, including the prized Moscato Passito Loazzolo DOC. The festival was completed by a photo exhibition on the nature of the Langhe, live music, country-style food, and entertainment for children.
