Music reaching the mountains: the Musicastelle concert at Lake Gover in Gressoney-Saint-Jean
Musicastelle Outdoor is the festival that brings author music to the most beautiful corners of the Aosta Valley, accessible only on foot. In Gressoney-Saint-Jean, at the foot of Monte Rosa, the stage is Lake Gover, at an altitude of 1,400 meters, in a natural amphitheater of water, woods, and clearings.
The beauty of Musicastelle is precisely the journey to get there: a walk of about 35 minutes, along a 2.6 km path with a 125-meter elevation gain, which follows the lake and crosses the forest. The show, therefore, begins during the walk, amidst the silence of the mountains and the anticipation of the music.
Organized by the Aosta Valley Regional Tourism Office, Musicastelle Outdoor offers a series of free concerts every summer in various locations in the region, from Doues to Saint-Pierre, from Étroubles to Gressoney-Saint-Jean. A format that intertwines music, nature, and slow tourism, and has made the festival one of the most beloved events of the Aosta Valley summer. In autumn, the festival continues with Musicastelle Foliage events.
The concert at Lake Gover is an opportunity to discover Gressoney-Saint-Jean, the capital of Walser culture in the Lys Valley (Aosta Valley), and its high-altitude landscapes. Between one note and the next, your gaze drifts towards the peaks of the Monte Rosa massif.
