A concert at 1,461 metres among the peaks of the Cannobina Valley
For twenty years, Musica in Quota has been one of the most beloved festivals in Upper Piedmont: a travelling event that transforms the pastures, alpine meadows, and mountain lakes of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and Biella areas into natural stages. Founded in 2006 and organised by the Musica in Quota Association, the festival celebrates its twentieth edition in 2026 with ten concerts scheduled from 7 June to 20 September, all free and all accessible on foot.
The formula is simple and fascinating: you don't arrive by car right in front of the stage, you walk. Each concert is preceded by a guided hike that becomes part of the show itself, because here, music is earned step by step, while breathing the air of the Alps.
The Alpe Pluni concert is one of the most evocative stops on the calendar. It takes place in the territory of the Municipality of Valle Cannobina, in the heart of the Val Grande National Park, at an altitude of 1,461 metres. The pasture is reached starting from the hamlet of Finero: a climb of about 550 metres in elevation gain, for a hike of one hour and forty-five minutes on a hiking trail (difficulty E, according to the CAI classification).
Once at the top, the alp opens up like a natural amphitheatre overlooking the mountains: this is where the concert comes to life, in a setting where sound blends with the landscape. Official Val Grande Park guides accompany participants along the entire route, making the experience accessible to anyone with a minimum of mountain hiking experience.
The 2026 edition at Alpe Pluni offers a journey into South American sounds with the ensemble BAIRES – Sonidos de Buenos Aires, a trio that reinterprets the great authors of tango and Argentine music with original arrangements and improvisations. A repertoire that ranges from Carlos Gardel to Astor Piazzolla, capable of creating a dialogue between the soul of Buenos Aires and the silence of the Piedmontese Alps.
More than just a concert, Musica in Quota is a way of experiencing the mountains: it promotes the lesser-known alpine pastures of Piedmont, supports local economies, and invites hikers and music lovers to rediscover the authentic beauty of the Ossola valleys. The Alpe Pluni stop, immersed in the greenery of the Cannobina Valley, is the perfect opportunity to combine a beautiful hike with an unforgettable musical moment.
