Acoustic concerts and conversations on spirituality among the villages of Lake Maggiore
The Music and Spirituality Festival is one of the most original cultural events to emerge in recent years in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola area of Piedmont. Conceived and directed by music journalist Pierfrancesco Pacoda, the festival chooses small villages and evocative locations around Lake Maggiore as its stage, including the municipality of Bee and its hamlet of Albagnano, home to the Kunpen Lama Gangchen - NgalSo Dharma Centre, which promotes the event.
The heart of the project is the dialogue between music and spirituality—understood not in a strictly religious sense, but as a connection to an intangible, non-material dimension. Each event combines two moments: a conversation where the artist reveals their worldview, and an intimate acoustic concert, often featuring unique, site-specific arrangements designed for the squares and spaces that host them.
For 2026, the festival presents its fourth edition, spread across several stops in the lakeside municipalities. Two events are scheduled in Bee: a concert by Maria Mazzotta at the Albagnano Temple and a performance by Alfio Antico, a master of the traditional Sicilian frame drum, in Piazza Barozzi in the town center. Other evenings involve nearby villages such as Ghiffa, Mergozzo, Baveno, and Verbania, in an itinerary that invites visitors to discover the territory through music.
The choice of squares and small-town spaces is no coincidence: it transforms every concert into a moment of gathering for the community and visitors alike, in an intimate atmosphere far from the scale of large stages. The festival is also designed to introduce younger audiences to high-quality Italian singer-songwriters, set against one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Piedmont.
All concerts of the Music and Spirituality Festival are free to attend, in keeping with the spirit of openness and sharing that drives the event. For some special events, such as workshops and meetings in Albagnano, reservations may be required.
The fourth edition of the Music and Spirituality Festival confirms the formula that combines acoustic concerts and conversations on the spiritual dimension, under the artistic direction of Pierfrancesco Pacoda. Two of the most anticipated concerts of the program are held in Bee, while the entire festival unfolds among the villages of Lake Maggiore with free admission throughout.
Each concert is preceded by a conversation between the artist and journalist Pierfrancesco Pacoda. Artistic direction: Pierfrancesco Pacoda. Curated by: Simona Eugenelo.
Bee is located on the heights above Verbania, in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province. By car, it can be reached via the A26 motorway (Verbania-Gravellona Toce exit), continuing towards Intra and then ascending to Bee. By train, the reference station is Verbania-Pallanza, which is well-connected to Milan; from there, you can continue by bus or taxi.
The events in Bee are held in Piazza Barozzi (in the town center) and at the Temple of the Sky on Earth at the Kunpen Lama Gangchen center in Albagnano di Bee.
Free admission to all concerts. For information: call +39 347 4409779, email [email protected], or visit the website kunpen.ngalso.org.
