Mundus in Casalgrande: borderless music in the hills

The Mundus Festival is one of the longest-running summer music reviews in Emilia-Romagna: born as a window onto world music, it is organized by ATER Fondazione and each year travels through various locations in the province of Reggio Emilia with a program that blends jazz, world music, folk, and singer-songwriter genres. The Casalgrande stop, in the municipality of the same name in the province of Reggio Emilia, takes place at the Scuderie di Villa Spalletti, in the hamlet of San Donnino di Liguria, and is organized in collaboration with the Casalgrande Jazz Festival and the Teatro De André.

An exceptional setting

The Scuderie di Villa Spalletti offer an intimate and evocative setting, ideal for listening: the audience enjoys open-air concerts, under the Emilia summer stars, in a context that enhances both acoustic quality and the intimate atmosphere of the evenings. The shows start at 9:30 PM.

The 2026 program

The 2026 edition of the Casalgrande stop offers three concerts between July 7th and 9th:

• Tuesday, July 7th - Frida: the voice and piano of Frida Bollani Magoni, accompanied by Mark Glentworth on vibraphone and keyboards, for a concert ranging from pop to jazz to singer-songwriter music, featuring famous songs and original compositions.
• Wednesday, July 8th - Roberto Gatto 4tet feat. Pietro Tonolo - Around Miles & Trane: a tribute to two jazz icons, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, reinterpreted in a contemporary style by the quartet of drummer Roberto Gatto with saxophonist Pietro Tonolo, blending tradition, innovation, and improvisation.
• Thursday, July 9th - Toscanini Academy Big Band - Hollywood Swing: eleven young and talented musicians led by Maestro Beppe Di Benedetto offer an energetic journey through orchestral swing and contemporary jazz, with Latin and fusion excursions.

A festival spread throughout the province

The Casalgrande stop is part of the broader Mundus 2026 program, which runs from June 22nd to August 4th with about a dozen concerts and sixty Italian and international artists, also visiting Reggio Emilia, Correggio, and Scandiano. It is also an opportunity to celebrate an event that has become rooted in the Casalgrande area, dedicated to jazz and its fusions, within the cultural tradition of Emilia-Romagna.
