About Mountain Walk
Walking among the mountain huts
The Mountain Walk – Mountain Festival is the big summer walk in Caltrano, a town in the Vicenza foothills at the gateway to the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. Organized by the Pro Loco of Caltrano, it is a non-competitive FIASP walk that attracts walkers and mountain enthusiasts from all over the province of Vicenza and beyond every year.
Three routes through pastures and woods
The start is from the picturesque Pozza del Favero, next to the Rifugio Bar Alpino. From here, three routes of varying difficulty develop — about 6, 12, and 18 kilometers — which cross the pastures, mountain huts, and woods of Caltrano's mountains, offering panoramic views of the Altopiano. It is an experience suitable for families, experienced hikers, and simple nature lovers.
The festival after the walk
Upon return, Pozza del Favero transforms into the heart of the Mountain Festival: the Pro Loco's food stand offers gnocchi, grilled meat, and other specialties, while live music accompanies the afternoon along with fresh beer and cocktails. A day that combines gentle sport, nature, and conviviality, enhancing the deep bond between Caltrano and its mountains.
Mountain Walk — edition 2026
The 42nd Mountain Walk – Mountain Festival is scheduled for Sunday, August 3, 2026, in Caltrano. The non-competitive FIASP walk starts from Pozza del Favero, next to the Rifugio Bar Alpino, and offers three routes through the pastures and woods of Caltrano's mountain. Upon return, the Mountain Festival continues with a food stand and live music, managed by the Pro Loco of Caltrano.

- Registration and start generally from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM
- Short route — approx. 6 km (reduced elevation gain)
- Medium route — approx. 12 km
- Long route — approx. 18 km, the most challenging among the mountain huts
- Upon return — opening of the Pro Loco's food stand with gnocchi, grilled meat, and other dishes
- In the afternoon — live music, fresh beer, and cocktails

How to get there
Caltrano is located about 30 km north of Vicenza, in the foothills. The start is at high altitude at Pozza del Favero, reachable by car from the town center along the road leading up to the mountain huts.
Registration and start
Registration and start generally from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM from Pozza del Favero (Rifugio Bar Alpino). Trekking shoes and appropriate mountain clothing are recommended.

Non-competitive event with FIASP registration fee; food stand with a charge.
