Five days of music, art, and heritage in the city of mosaics
The Mosaico Festival is a summer event that brings Piazza Armerina, a town in the province of Enna, in the heart of Sicily, to life. Created in 2023 by a collective of young Sicilian professionals, the festival creates a dialogue between contemporary music and other arts—photography, cinema, journalism, architecture—and the city's symbolic sites. The name is no coincidence: Piazza Armerina is world-renowned for the late-antique mosaics of the Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the festival uses this heritage as its aesthetic and symbolic horizon.
The strength of the Mosaico Festival lies in its choice of locations. Each evening takes place in a different, evocative space within the historic center and the surrounding area: the Villa Romana del Casale, the Aragonese Castle, the Cathedral and its square, the municipal library with the Casa Mosaico space, and even the Agricasale forest. This constant movement turns the audience into travelers traversing the city, rediscovering its corners and perspectives, linking club culture and concerts to a landscape steeped in history.
The Mosaico Festival's programming is intentionally eclectic: it ranges from Italian singer-songwriters to international electronica, from stand-up comedy to late-night DJ sets, with forays into cinema, cultural journalism, and reflections on architecture and landscape. It is a festival that rejects rigid genre boundaries, offering an immersive experience where listening, discovery, and social interaction blend together.
In an island summer often focused on the coasts, the Mosaico Festival asserts the centrality of inland Sicily and its heritage, bringing nationally and internationally renowned artists to an intimate, identity-driven setting. For the residents of Piazza Armerina and the Enna area, as well as for visitors reaching the Villa Romana del Casale, it is an opportunity to experience the territory in a new, contemporary, and participatory dimension.
The festival typically takes place during the first week of August. Tickets for individual evenings and the full pass are available on the DICE platform. For the updated program, we recommend following the official Mosaico Festival social media channels.
The 2026 edition of the Mosaico Festival will be held in Piazza Armerina (Enna, Sicily) from August 5th to 9th, 2026. Five evenings, each in a different and symbolic location of the city and its territory, for a program that weaves together music, comedy, and club culture.
Tickets for individual evenings (starting from approximately 25 euros) and the Full Pass for the entire festival (80 euros) are available on the DICE platform.
Piazza Armerina is located in central Sicily, in the province of Enna. By car, it can be reached via the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Mulinello or Dittaino exit) and then via the SS117bis. The most convenient train station is Enna; from there, continue by bus or car.
Tickets for individual evenings and the full pass are on sale on the DICE platform. We recommend booking in advance for events in limited-capacity venues.
We suggest combining your festival visit with a tour of the Villa Romana del Casale and the Baroque historic center of Piazza Armerina. For those staying overnight, there is a wide range of accommodation in the center and surrounding areas, but it is best to book well in advance for August.
