The Buti evening of the Monte Pisano widespread festival
The Monte Pisano Art Festival is a traveling cultural festival that, for ten days at the end of July, transforms the courtyards, squares, villages, and parish churches of the Monte Pisano area into open-air stages. Conceived by Officina dei Transiti and the Strada dell'Olio Monti Pisani with the support of the Fondazione Pisa, the festival involves the municipalities of Pisa, San Giuliano Terme, Calci, Vecchiano, Vicopisano, Capannori, and Buti, in the province of Pisa, Tuscany. The artistic direction is entrusted to maestro Andrea Gottfried.
Among the stops on the festival circuit is the evening in Buti, held in the evocative Piazza Divisione Acqui, in the heart of the town at the foot of the Monte Pisano. Here, the program offers live music in an intimate and cozy setting, where the audience gathers outdoors on summer nights. It is one of the most cherished occasions for the local Buti community to experience a high-quality show together, immersed in the typical landscape of the Pisan countryside.
The festival stands out for the variety of its program: ranging from opera to theatre, from classical music to jazz, and even dance performances, intertwining the performing arts with the discovery of the territory, its nature, and its flavours. Each evening is conceived as an "emotional narrative of the territory," a way to tell the story of Monte Pisano through the beauty of the performing arts. Alongside the main shows, a Fuori Festival also takes place, featuring dinners, tastings, walks, and exhibitions.
Buti is a small municipality in the Province of Pisa known for its olive-growing tradition and the famous Palio di Buti. Hosting a festival evening in Piazza Divisione Acqui means highlighting an authentic village of the Monte Pisano, far from the major tourist circuits but rich in history and identity. The festival's widespread format allows the public to discover, evening after evening, different municipalities and often little-known places in the Tuscan territory.
All Monte Pisano Art Festival shows, including the Buti evening, are by reservation only. For information and to reserve your seat, you can email [email protected] or visit the festival's official website, where the complete updated program is published.
