A storytelling festival blending theatre, nature, and narrative
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Montagne Racconta is a cultural event held every summer in the small village of Larzana, the heart of the Montagne district in the municipality of Tre Ville, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Born from a desire to rediscover oral traditions and the art of storytelling, the festival weaves together theatre, narrative, music, and nature in a unique alpine context, where the village itself becomes a sprawling, open-air stage.
The festival features narrative theatre performances, productions by national companies, and guided narrative walks along mountain trails. Events are spread across the most characteristic spots of the village: the Piaza Piciola, the Cort de la Selma, and the streets of Larzana's historic centre, with the audience moving from courtyard to courtyard following the rhythm of the stories. In case of bad weather, performances are held in the Larzana Town Hall.
Montagne Racconta is organised by the Associazione Le Ombrie in collaboration with the Municipality of Tre Ville and the Tananait association, with the support of the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Madonna di Campiglio Tourism Board, the BIM, the Regole Spinale e Manez, and the local Cassa Rurale. The festival is deeply rooted in the Montagne community, so much so that residents of the district are granted free entry to performances: a way to bridge the gap between cultural and community life.
One of the most beloved elements of the festival is the narrative walk: an excursion through the trails and woods surrounding Larzana, punctuated by stops where storytellers share their tales in the open air, in a continuous dialogue between word and landscape. The hike, suitable for families and mountain enthusiasts, often concludes with a shared picnic, reinforcing the convivial spirit of the event.
Included in the event calendar of the Giudicarie and the Brenta Dolomites, Montagne Racconta represents one of the most original cultural appointments of the Trentino summer: a festival that, far from the mainstream circuits, chooses slowness, listening, and the beauty of the mountains as its hallmark. An experience that unites art, community, and landscape in the municipality of Tre Ville.
The dates and programme for the 2026 edition of Montagne Racconta have not yet been released.
