The traveling festival blending live music and the flavors of Monferrato arrives in Roatto
In the heart of the Asti Monferrato hills, the small town of Roatto (Province of Asti, Piedmont) hosts one of the stops of Monferrato on Stage, the widespread traveling festival that has been enlivening the summer for over ten years across the provinces of Asti, Alessandria, and Turin. The event takes place in Piazza Piemonte, the heart of the village, transformed for one night into an open-air stage.
The Monferrato on Stage formula is now a trademark: at each stop, a concert by established Italian artists is intertwined with a food and wine tasting curated by local Pro Loco associations and producers. The flavors of Monferrato — wines, cheeses, cured meats, and traditional peasant dishes — accompany the evening in an experience that promotes short supply chains, seasonality, and sustainability, using compostable materials. Admission is completely free, confirming the festival's inclusive and popular spirit.
With just over three hundred inhabitants, Roatto is a perfect example of the small villages the festival aims to showcase: towns often off the beaten tourist track, yet rich in landscape, history, and rural identity. Bringing a major concert to a village square means restoring centrality to local communities and offering the public an authentic experience, far from the major circuits.
Monferrato on Stage is conceived and organized by the Fondazione MOS ETS (established in 2020), which involves mayors, Pro Loco, and local entities in a project to promote the cultural and gastronomic heritage of Monferrato. Roatto is also among the towns participating in Monferrato Next, a project dedicated to youth policies supported by the Piedmont Region. The festival thus unites quality music, regional promotion, and attention to new generations.
The 11th edition of Monferrato on Stage (May 23 – August 29, 2026, with 15 events across the provinces of Turin, Asti, and Alessandria) stops in Roatto on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The star of the evening is Bobo Rondelli, a singer-songwriter, poet, actor, and performer with a strong personality and an unmistakable voice in the Italian songwriting scene. As per the festival's tradition, the concert is accompanied by a food and wine tasting featuring typical products and wines from Monferrato, with completely free admission.
Location: Piazza Piemonte, Roatto. Free admission. Start times for the tasting and the concert will be announced on the festival's official channels in the days leading up to the event.
