An encounter with accordionist Gianni Coscia in the heart of Monferrato
The Monferr'Autore Festival is a traveling series of meetings, stories, songs, and visions that, between April and July, visits numerous municipalities in the province of Alessandria, bringing music and culture to the heart of one of the most evocative territories in Piedmont: Monferrato, a wine-growing landscape recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Treville stage, a cozy hilltop village in the Casale area, hosts one of the most anticipated events on the calendar.
The protagonist of the evening in Treville is Gianni Coscia, an accordionist from Alessandria and one of the most authoritative and refined figures on the international scene. At ninety-five, the maestro shares his story in a dialogue with journalist Alberto Bazzurro: from the birth of his passion for the instrument to his long and deep friendship with the writer Umberto Eco, his fellow countryman and companion from his youth. A journey through memory that is also a tribute to singer-songwriting and the culture of the region.
The festival, directed by journalist and cultural operator Enrico Deregibus, ranges from singer-songwriter music, rock, and folk to theater, cinema, intelligent comedy, and literature, often featuring moments of dialogue with the guests. The edition involves the municipalities of Balzola, Conzano, Gamalero, Lu Cuccaro Monferrato, Occimiano, Pontestura, Rivarone, Treville, and Volpedo, in collaboration with local cultural organizations. Artists in the program include names such as Violante Placido, Davide Van De Sfroos, Dente, Ron, Mauro Pagani, Cisco, Elena Ledda, and Edda.
The Treville event takes place at the Dehor delle Rose, at Via Roma 6, an evocative open-air space in the town center. Admission is free, in line with the festival's mission to make great music and auteur culture accessible to everyone.
Treville is a small municipality in the province of Alessandria, in Piedmont, nestled among the vineyards and gentle hills of the Lower Monferrato.
