Retro skiing and 70s & 80s hits in the Dolomites
The Moena Vintage Ski Revival is the winter event that celebrates the style and music of the fabulous seventies and eighties in the heart of the Dolomites. The festival takes place in Moena, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), and across the Alpe Lusia - San Pellegrino ski area in the Val di Fassa. For an entire weekend, the so-called 'Fairy of the Dolomites' fills up with vintage ski suits, colorful oversized goggles, retro skis, and iconic pop hits, transforming into a true open-air time machine.
The heart of the festival lies in the free live concerts held in the town square and at altitude, featuring tribute bands and artists who shaped the history of Italian and international pop music. Performances alternate between the center of Moena, particularly Piaz de Sotegrava, and the mountain huts on the slopes, where après-ski drinks and DJ sets keep the skiers entertained. The town also comes alive with themed parties in local bars and roaming music throughout the village streets.
One of the most anticipated highlights is the Vintage Ski Run, a non-competitive descent on the slopes of Passo San Pellegrino to be tackled strictly in period clothing and gear. The vintage dress code is an essential part of the experience: participants are encouraged to wear 70s and 80s ski suits, sweaters, and accessories. Completing the atmosphere is the Vintage Market set up in Piazzetta Perle Alpine, a space dedicated to retro-inspired objects, clothing, and curiosities.
Launched in 2025, the Moena Vintage Ski Revival has quickly established itself as one of the most original winter events in the Val di Fassa, successfully combining skiing with pop culture and attracting visitors from all over Italy to the snows of Trentino. The event is organized by the Comitato Moena Eventi in collaboration with the Moena and Passo San Pellegrino Hoteliers Association and the Alpe Lusia San Pellegrino Consortium, with the support of the Val di Fassa Tourist Board.
The second edition of the Moena Vintage Ski Revival brought Moena and the slopes of Alpe Lusia - San Pellegrino to life from March 27 to 29, 2026, confirming the successful formula that blends vintage skiing, pop music, and themed parties. Special guest for all three days was host and DJ Fabio De Vivo, joined by the Austrian retro-ski influencer Thomas Bachnetzer.
On Friday, the concert by Cristina D'Avena in Piaz de Sotegrava kicked off the festivities with iconic cartoon theme songs; Saturday featured the Vintage Ski Run at Passo San Pellegrino and the multimedia Beatles tribute by BeatleStory; Sunday marked the grand finale at altitude at Le Cune with the Claudio Cecchetto Deejay Show and the after-party.
Moena can be reached by car via the Egna/Ora exit (A22 Brenner Motorway) and the SS48 Dolomite road, or from Trento along the Val di Fiemme. The nearest train station is Ora, which is connected by bus lines. In winter, the use of winter tires or snow chains is highly recommended.
Concerts and events in the town are free to attend. To reach the concerts at altitude at Le Cune (Alpe Lusia), a ticket for the Ronchi-Le Cune cable car is required (approx. €24 for adults, €15 for children aged 8-16) or a valid ski pass. Capacity at altitude is limited.
Vintage 70s-80s style clothing and equipment are highly recommended and mandatory for those participating in the Vintage Ski Run.
