Two days of solidarity, health awareness, and community spirit in the heart of the Florentine Chianti
The Misericordia Festival of Impruneta is one of the most cherished events on the town's spring calendar, set in the heart of the Florentine Chianti. Promoted by the Misericordia of Impruneta, an ancient volunteer Confraternity active for over a century and a half, the event takes place in the evocative Loggiato del Pellegrino and the central Piazza Buondelmonti, two symbolic landmarks of the Municipality of Impruneta, in the Province of Florence (Tuscany).
The festival's core theme is the deep bond between the Confraternity and its community: two days designed to bring citizens closer to the values of emergency aid, prevention, and giving. The event is not just a celebration, but also an opportunity to raise funds for emergency services and the purchase of a new ambulance, a vital tool for the volunteers' daily work.
The program alternates between in-depth discussions and popular activities. It kicks off with a public meeting on the local emergency service, featuring local authorities, heads of the Florence 118 emergency service, and representatives of the Tuscan Misericordie. There is plenty for children, including Pompieropoli and workshops for families, as well as first-aid demonstrations by volunteers.
The Misericordia Festival is part of the rich tradition of Impruneta, a town known for its artisanal terracotta, the Grape Festival, and popular devotion. The widespread presence of the Misericordia in the daily life of the municipality makes this event a deeply identity-driven occasion, where solidarity, conviviality, and civic commitment blend in an authentically Tuscan atmosphere, engaging both residents and visitors during a spring weekend in the Chianti region.
The 2026 edition of the Misericordia Festival of Impruneta brought the town center to life on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, with a program full of initiatives dedicated to the community and fundraising for a new ambulance.
The event opened on Saturday morning with a public meeting at the Loggiato del Pellegrino on the local emergency service, followed by Pompieropoli and activities for children and families in Piazza Buondelmonti, first-aid demonstrations, and the Traditional Dinner, followed by a musical evening with Radio Mitology. Sunday was dedicated to the Prevention Day, with a mobile clinic open to citizens, and the Charity Auction featuring works donated by local artists.
