The humble dish of chestnuts and buckwheat, now a Quality Festival
The Migole Festival is held in Malonno (Province of Brescia), in the upper Valle Camonica. The star is migole, a traditional dish from the humble mountain cuisine prepared with chestnut and buckwheat flour, enriched with alpine butter, cured meats, and local cheeses. A simple and hearty dish that tells the story of a community accustomed to facing the hardships of high-altitude life.
In 2026, the event marks a turning point: the festival doubles its scope and officially joins the prestigious 'Sagre di Qualità' circuit promoted by Unpli, the national federation of Pro Loco associations. This recognition rewards the authenticity and organization of the festival and, as the organizers emphasize, represents 'a new starting point' for Malonno.
Organized by the Pro Loco Malonnese, the festival is not just about food. The program includes the educational project 'Castagnella' for schools, aperitif and dinner evenings by reservation, a guided tour of the Ferromin mine, and entertainment such as a quiz game. It's a way to connect food with the discovery of the valley's mining and natural history.
Valle Camonica, famous for its UNESCO World Heritage rock carvings, offers a fascinating setting in Malonno. The Migole Festival thus becomes an opportunity to explore an authentic mountain territory, far from mass tourism, and to rediscover the flavors and traditions of its communities.
The 2026 edition of the Migole Festival takes place on March 27th and 28th and marks the official entry of the event into the 'Sagre di Qualità' circuit promoted by Unpli. The festival doubles its scope, unfolding over two days organized by Pro Loco Malonnese, in the upper Valle Camonica.
