Three days of music, local flavors, and a craft market in the ancient cellars of Roccastrada
MerCantine in Poggio is the summer festival that brings life and color to the alleys of the historic center of Roccastrada, the main town in the province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. For three days, the village perched on the hill opens its ancient cellars, underground passages, and panoramic terraces to welcome visitors, exhibitors, and artists in a convivial atmosphere that recalls the rural and winemaking identity of the area.
The heart of the event is the food and wine market, where local agri-food companies offer wines, local products, and Maremma specialties. In the service cellars and refreshment points, the public can find traditional Tuscan recipes: chickpea cream tagliolini, pappa al pomodoro, sausages with caramelized onions, tripe sandwiches, peposo, and the characteristic mulled wine. Guided wine tastings accompany the evenings, introducing local labels in a suggestive setting.
Along the route, you will encounter artisans, hobbyists, and street performers, while the old cellars host photography exhibitions and installations that tell the story of the village. Each evening is marked by live music until late at night, with bands, tribute acts, and DJ sets enlivening the squares, from Largo Garibaldi to the spaces of the historic center. There is no shortage of entertainment, performances, and guided walks to discover the history of Roccastrada.
Organized by the Pro Loco Roccastrada with the collaboration and patronage of the Municipality, MerCantine in Poggio is part of the summer festival "Spring in Roccastrada: the territory and its flavors," which offers festivals, feasts, and shows in the town and its hamlets from May to September. The event has free admission and represents one of the most cherished appointments in the calendar, capable of uniting residents and tourists in the discovery of the village, its wines, and its gastronomic tradition in the most authentic Tuscany.
The 2026 edition of MerCantine in Poggio takes place from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26 in the historic center of Roccastrada, in the province of Grosseto, as part of the "Spring in Roccastrada: the territory and its flavors" festival.
As per tradition, the village hosts a food and wine market with local companies, guided tastings of Maremma wines, Tuscan street food in the service cellars, and live music until late at night. Along the alleys, there is space for artisans, hobbyists, and photography exhibitions.
