The commemorative coarse fishing competition at Lago Oasi Verde in Bianzè
The Memorial Claudio Ivaldi is one of the most heartfelt coarse fishing competitions on the Piedmontese calendar, hosted at the Lago Oasi Verde in Bianzè, a small town in the province of Vercelli, in the heart of Piedmont's rice-growing plains. The event was established to honor the memory of Claudio Ivaldi, a man who deeply loved this sport, and is organized with his customary passion by his son, Ivan Ivaldi.
More than just a competition, the Memorial is an event that blends sporting rivalry with an atmosphere of genuine friendship: participants compete in pairs, but the true essence of the day remains the memory of a loved one and the shared passion for fishing.
The body of water hosting the competition is a distinctive heart-shaped lake, a landmark for coarse fishing enthusiasts from all over Piedmont. Throughout the year, the facility changes its character: in the colder season, it is dedicated to trout fishing with spinning and fly fishing in catch-and-release mode, while in the warmer months, it transforms into a carpodrome, hosting coarse and feeder fishing competitions with often very generous catches.
The Lago Oasi Verde is one of the venues for provincial fishing trials in the area and, thanks to its areas equipped with gazebos and barbecues, it is also an ideal destination to spend entire days immersed in the greenery of the Vercelli countryside, with family or friends.
The Memorial Claudio Ivaldi tests the reflexes and adaptability of athletes with formats designed to highlight various aspects of coarse fishing. The trials are held using the pole fishing (roubaisienne) technique, on sectors with length restrictions (5-13 meters) and sectors without restrictions (0-13 meters), where precision and bait management make all the difference.
Fishing takes place on multiple lines: near the surface for fish that are more active in the upper layers during the warmer hours, and on the bottom for a methodical approach in search of the most significant catches and consistency.
Included among the sporting events of Bianzè and the Vercelli territory, the Memorial Ivaldi represents a small but significant piece of local community life, capable of attracting anglers from across the region and keeping alive a tradition built on respect for nature, fair play, and friendship.
Vincitori: coppie Pecoraro Giuseppe / Pavan Alessandro e Ivaldi Ivan / Sinatra Gianfranco.
