About Matterhorn Week

The Matterhorn Week is the summer event that, in mid-July, enlivens Valtournenche and Breuil-Cervinia with cultural, sporting, and musical events dedicated to the mountain and its "mountain of mountains", the Matterhorn. Concerts, meetings with mountaineers, film screenings, workshops for children, and free debates accompany residents and tourists in a week of Alpine culture under the famous pyramid.

Seven days at the foot of the Matterhorn

The Matterhorn Week is the summer event that, in mid-July, transforms Valtournenche and the hamlet of Breuil-Cervinia into a grand stage dedicated to the mountain. Organized by the Cervino Turismo Consortium, the festival blends culture, sport, environment, and music, with the Gran Becca — the Matterhorn — as the backdrop for every event.

A multidisciplinary program

The schedule includes concerts, meetings with renowned mountaineers, film screenings, current affairs debates, and workshops for children. The festival also celebrates anniversaries related to the history of the Matterhorn, such as the anniversary of the first ascents, giving a voice to alpine guides, writers, journalists, and artists. All events are free admission, subject to availability.

International sport in the valley

During the week, Valtournenche also hosts major international sporting events, such as the Monte Rosa Walser Waeg by UTMB trail race and the finish of the Tour of the Aosta Valley international cycling race in Breuil-Cervinia. A mix that makes the Matterhorn Week a complete showcase of the Aosta Valley mountain, combining nature, sport, and culture.
