About Marlia in Festa

Marlia in Festa is a popular fair that brings the village of Marlia, a district of Capannori in the province of Lucca, to life twice a year (in spring and autumn). For an entire day, Via Paolinelli transforms into a long gallery of over sixty market stalls, while local shops remain open and the squares fill with music, children's entertainment, and stands from local associations. It is a genuine village festival with free admission, organized by Confesercenti Area Lucca with the patronage of the Municipality.

A village festival in the heart of the Lucca Plain

Marlia in Festa is one of the most beloved market events in the Lucca Plain. It takes place in Marlia, a populous district of the Municipality of Capannori, in the province of Lucca, and for one full day, it turns Via Paolinelli into a vast route of street commerce and entertainment. It is one of those village festivals that blends open-air shopping with the convivial atmosphere typical of Tuscany, attracting visitors from all over the area.

Over sixty stalls along the street

The heart of the event is the large street fair: along Via Paolinelli, in the stretch between Via della Chiesa and Via San Martino, over sixty stalls (up to seventy in the richest editions) are set up, offering all kinds of goods. You will find clothing, footwear, accessories, household items, local products, food, and seasonal produce: a stroll among the stalls that has become a tradition for local families. Throughout the day, permanent local shops also remain open, observing their usual Sunday hours.

Music, entertainment, and local associations

Marlia in Festa is more than just a market. In Piazza del Mercato, artists from Pandora display their creations in characteristic white gazebos, while the mobile studio of Radio Star accompanies the day with music and entertainment. A large space is dedicated to children, with bouncy castles, cotton candy, and kid-friendly attractions. The presence of local volunteer associations is fundamental: the Misericordia offers first-aid demonstrations and activities related to popular traditions, while the Fratres enliven the food stand with local specialties.

Two editions per year

The fair is held twice a year: one edition takes place in spring (usually in April) and one in autumn (usually in October). In both cases, the event is held on a Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with completely free admission.

Useful information

The event is organized by Confesercenti Area Lucca with the patronage of the Municipality of Capannori. Marlia is located just a few kilometers from the center of Lucca and is easily accessible from the plain, making Marlia in Festa an ideal outing for a Sunday dedicated to shopping, good food, and fun for the whole family.
