About Marché au Fort

In mid-October, the medieval village of Bard, at the foot of the Forte, hosts the Marché au Fort: the largest and most important gastronomic review dedicated to the typical products of Valle d'Aosta. Over seventy producers animate the stone alleys with cheeses, cured meats, honeys, wines, fruits, and traditional sweets from Valle d'Aosta. With tastings, a refreshment area, historical reenactments, and folk groups, it's the autumn event to discover the best of Valle d'Aosta's flavours.

The taste of Valle d'Aosta in the village of Bard

The Marché au Fort is the largest and most important exhibition-market dedicated to the food and wine and typical products of Valle d'Aosta. It takes place in mid-October in the evocative setting of the medieval village of Bard, at the foot of the historic Forte, and attracts thousands of visitors every year through the stone alleys of the village.

Over seventy producers

Lovers of good food can meet over 70 producers and get to know the varied gastronomic offerings of Valle d'Aosta up close: cheeses (including Fontina DOP), cured meats, meats, wines, honeys, varieties of fruit — especially the valley's apples — and traditional sweets. In the Town Hall square, a refreshment area offers takeaway dishes made with local products.

Tastings, tradition, and culture

The event is not just a market: with historical reenactments, folk groups, musical entertainment, guided tours of the Forte, and workshops for children, the Marché au Fort is a celebration that combines taste with the discovery of the heritage of the Municipality of Bard and the entire Valle d'Aosta. The 'Tessera Punti' (Points Card) from the Chambre Valdôtaine rewards purchases with product vouchers, encouraging direct spending with producers.
