The Brusciano road race that combines sport with a message of peace
March for Peace is much more than just a running race: it is a sporting event that, since its first edition in 2015, has chosen to link the physical challenge of running with the universal value of peace. Every year, at the start of spring, the streets of Brusciano, a town in the province of Naples in Campania, fill with athletes, enthusiasts, and families participating in an event that has grown year after year to become one of the most anticipated dates in the Campania running calendar.
The heart of the event is a competitive 9.99 km road race, starting and finishing in Piazza XI Settembre, in the centre of Brusciano. It is a fast track, though not entirely flat: the route features three short uphill sections and three downhill sections, with an estimated total elevation gain of between 35 and 45 metres. It is a circuit that rewards consistent runners and winds through the town streets, turning the entire village into a grand sporting stage for a morning.
The race is organized by the Runners Giomo Association, born from the passion of Giovanni Mocerino, with the patronage of the Municipality of Brusciano. Over the years, the event has attracted hundreds of registrants and dozens of teams from across the region, confirming its ability to combine organizational quality with community spirit. Registrations are managed through dedicated running platforms, and every participant who crosses the finish line receives a finisher's medal.
What sets March for Peace apart is the festive atmosphere that accompanies the competition. Alongside the most competitive athletes, the race welcomes amateurs, sports groups, and families in a day that is both an athletic challenge and a moment of social gathering. The theme of peace, already reflected in its name, gives the event a value that goes beyond the clock, making it a small symbol for the entire Brusciano community.
Traditionally held on the first Sundays of March, the race marks the ideal opening of the spring running season in the Nola area and the north-east of Naples. For runners in Campania, it is an opportunity to get back into the swing of things after winter, while for Brusciano, it represents a showcase that highlights the local area and its community associations.
The 11th edition of the March for Peace was held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, on the streets of Brusciano, confirming the well-established formula of the 9.99 km competitive road race. Meeting point and start in Piazza XI Settembre, with the start set for 9:00 AM.
The course, fast but enlivened by three uphill and three downhill sections (total elevation gain between 35 and 45 metres), wound through the town centre, with the closure of several city arteries such as Via Cucca to traffic. The organization was handled by the Runners Giomo Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Brusciano.
Brusciano is located in the Nola area, north-east of Naples. By car, it can be reached via the A16 motorway (Nola exit) or the Asse Mediano. By train and EAV public transport, you can reach Nola or Marigliano, then continue via local connections. The start and finish are in Piazza XI Settembre, in the town centre.
The meeting point is in Piazza XI Settembre, with the start in the morning. Registrations are made through dedicated running timing platforms; a race pack and finisher's medal are provided for those who complete the 9.99 km. During the morning of the race, some town streets, including Via Cucca, are closed to traffic.
