Every summer, the small village of Mantovana, in the municipality of Predosa (province of Alessandria, Piedmont), transforms for over a week into the undisputed realm of Piedmontese mixed boiled meat. The Bollito and Bagnet Festival, organized with passion by the Pro Loco Mantovana, is now a historic fixture in the calendar of festivals in the lower Monferrato area: an event that attracts traditional cuisine enthusiasts from across the province and beyond.
The star dish: bollito and its bagnet
The heart of the event is naturally the gran bollito misto, one of the most iconic preparations of Piedmontese cuisine, famously beloved by historical figures like the Count of Cavour. The various cuts of meat, slow-cooked in broth, are served hot and accompanied by the essential bagnet, the famous green sauce made with parsley, anchovies, garlic, and breadcrumbs, often served alongside other traditional sauces. Alongside the boiled meat, the stands offer many other typical Piedmontese dishes, with a menu that changes throughout the week.
Music, dancing, and atmosphere
The festival is not just about food: every evening after dinner, the communal tables give way to live music and dancing with ballroom orchestras and themed nights, in the true spirit of summer village festivals. There is plenty of space for children and the convivial atmosphere that has always characterized this village of Predosa.
When and where
The event takes place in August, in the equipped area of the Pro Loco Mantovana, along Via XXV Aprile. The food stands are covered and operate even in case of bad weather, with evening service starting from approximately 7:30 PM. Mantovana is easily reached from Predosa and nearby towns in the Alessandria plains, in a quiet corner of Monferrato where food and wine tradition still takes center stage.
Mantovana Bollito Festival — edition 2026
The Bollito and Bagnet Festival returns to Mantovana di Predosa from August 5 to 12, 2026. For eight consecutive evenings, the covered stands of the Pro Loco Mantovana will serve Piedmontese mixed boiled meat with bagnet and numerous other traditional dishes, starting from approximately 7:30 PM.
As per tradition, every evening dinner is followed by live music and dancing with orchestras and themed nights. The dates are confirmed by the Municipality of Predosa; the detailed calendar of musical evenings is usually published in the weeks preceding the event on the Pro Loco Mantovana channels.

Usual structure of the event, recurring in past editions:
- Every evening, from 7:30 PM — opening of the covered food stands with Piedmontese mixed boiled meat, bagnet, and traditional dishes.
- After dinner — live music and dancing with ballroom orchestras and themed nights.
The names of the orchestras and musical groups for 2026 will be announced as the event approaches.

How to get there
Mantovana is a village of Predosa (AL), in the plains of lower Monferrato. By car, it can be reached from the A26 motorway (exits in the Ovada/Alessandria area) or from the Alessandria provincial road network. The reference train station is Alessandria, from where you can continue by car.
